When selecting a Property Management service our strata board reviewed several strong references for Ascent. We have to say, we’re even happier with your service now that we’ve been with them for a few years. In particular our Strata Manager, Ryan Walmsley has been the best manager we’ve ever had. We appreciate how organized, knowledgeable and helpful he is. He is well-informed about all aspects of the industry—from finding the perfect tradespeople, to helping us understand our bylaws and how to apply them, to knowing how to effectively manage an emergency. Ryan’s communication is always prompt, clear and courteous and he is well-organized and detail oriented—something that is well-appreciated by our volunteer board. Ascent's excellent service has helped us feel secure about the well-being of our homes and our investment.
Ryan is an outstanding rental manager. We have not had such a determined professional and excellent landlord like Ryan in a very long time. He always has a friendly smile and very approachable. I'm very happy with his services and he always keeps everything to a high standard. Truly blessed and grateful for all that Ryan does to keep us comfortable and very happy. Goes over and beyond for clients
We dropped Ascent in favour of a different and very well reviewed strata management company on March 1/23 after an utterly disastrous experience with an obvious rookie manager we'd been given in July/22 after our previous management company was absorbed into Ascent. He is no longer with the company, but how Ascent even hired him in the first place remains a mystery. He was the most incompetent, unreliable and all-around totally useless individual you can possibly imagine, and on top of this he spoke at a super-rapid speed with a very thick accent that I, as a council member, found impossible to understand. Our list of bad experiences and grievances is too long to list. Look at the dozens of one star awful reviews. There are at least ten for every good review, assuming those few are genuine and not 'planted'. Read as many as you can before you say.... "Next" The language/accent issue was the least of our issues. When a manager says he'll contact the developer of our 7.5 year old building to deal with an exterior clogged drain, when an email headlined "Urgent" is totally ignored for over a week, and these are two of dozens of incompetence issues, it becomes pretty obvious that the manager is bad news. And we were not released from our management contract as the owner of Ascent reported below. We simply gave them the required two months notice that we would not be renewing our contract. Btw, Had we stayed with Ascent, we were facing a 60% fee increase. That was the last straw. This last paragraph above was added after I saw Ascent's response below. So I took this as an valid need to elaborate. I don't believe there is a worse property management company in the industry, let alone in the Lower Mainland.
I would NOT recommend ASCENT for a strata property management company. Their property managers are non-responsive and mostly inexperienced. Upper management does not care and provide zero guidance to their property managers. They fly on the seat of their pants. They will not respond to the strata council's requests in a timely manner and most times not at all. You will have to keep calling and calling in order to get someone to answer your call. Even then, when you ask if tasks assigned to them have been completed, they are not done. The assigned tasks just remain on their desks, and the strata council is left not knowing if quotes have been obtained, or if a contractor has been called. ASCENT should not be in the business of strata management. They only like and want the money they make from strata's, but they are not interested in actually doing the work it takes to manage a strata. BEWARE and FORWARNED!!!
Ascent has been managing my property now for 2+ years. Our lead property manager Sarah is extremely knowledgeable and provides excellent solutions to our problems. She is very responsive and treats the property like it is her own. I appreciate the cost saving measures and approach they take to try and keep things in line to meet our yearly budgets. Overall I am very happy with the service we have received and would recommend to others. Sarah has been a great pleasure to do business with and she is a top tier asset to Ascent. Couple of minor notes: 1. Managing a building with a multitude of personalities is not an easy task. Please be respectful when dealing with property managers. 2. You can't fulfill everyone's desires and it's not always feasible to address every complaint at a moments notice. 3. The property management company still needs to seek approval from their respectful council, so it takes time and it's not always the decision of the management firm.
Very poor management! I would not recommend this company to anybody! It's Property managers do not even bother to answer the owner's emails regarding the important issues within the condo building they"manage"! My condo building has been operating with just one out of two elevators for almost a month now, and in the last few weeks the only elevator in the 30 storey building has been out of service twice for almost a full day each time! And our Ascent Strata Manager Mike Cates has not answered any of my two emails regarding this issue! That is just the latest of Ascent's incompetencies...
This is a flat outright TERRIBLE strata company. I have been harassed by someone for years. This person recently sent in numerous anon complaints about me that have zero grounds. This person pretended to live in the building I live and would anonymously present himself as tho he was a neighbor. The fake complaints sent were suspect. I work night shift and these complaints don’t even line up. The way they handled this situation is so wrong and have costed me my living space. After speaking with a lawyer, with RTB and many others I have grounds for a lawsuit for the costs they have now caused me. Follow EVERYONES advice… do NOT rent from any building if this is the property management company and do NOT buy a property with them managing either.
This company is absolutely atrocious to deal with. I have had a number of issue with them and the latest was I reported a maintenance issue two weeks ago and have not received a confirmation that they received the email or are doing anything. Even though I cannot use my kitchen sink, they simply do not respond. Every time I have had to deal with an employee from this company, it has been absolutely awful. From the Manager Milena to the ever changing staff, they are rude and unhelpful if you do ever receive a response. Avoid using this company if you can, the responses they are posting below all seem fabricated lies and excuses, and the issues with this company are real.... They are highly incompetent...
After 2 bad experiences with 2 property management companies we went back to Ascent Property Management realising it had offered us better management. We have been with Ascent now for approximately nine years and we are very happy with the service they have provided us. Our current strata property manager Mike Cates has proven to be a wonderful fit for our strata with all its challenges. His knowledge and expertise has steered us through some difficult times. I highly recommend Ascent Real Estate management for Strata properties.
Ascent manages several of my units. They have always taken great care of my investments. I find their accounting records are always very detailed and they are transparent in all of their dealings.
