Artists Emporium is the only place I trust when it comes to my creative needs for myself and others. I highly recommend this place based on their excellent product lineup and e pert knowledge staff. I was compelled to write a review today after amazing customer service from one of their art advisors, Ashley, stepped up and helped me and my partner out. Ashley is an expert in their field with knowing the fine details about foam, cosplay foam and the tools needed to dive in. I was impressed and thankful for their time, their passion, and how they took us through the process of the different types of foams for the righr job. I had shared I was getting into water colour painting, and wanted some advice on where to start for a beginner. Ashley was able to share their experiences of starting themselves and came with some awesome recommendations for a newbie and how to step up. I left satisfied with my service, and feeling good knowing that other folks would get the same level of service. I highly recommend coming here for the expert staff, their shared experiences with the product in store, and genuine care for the customers.
The most pleasant experience you can possibly have in a store. Look no further this is the only place you need for your artistic needs. I went there to get some advice on why my paint didn't stick to my primed surface and I left with a lot more than just knowledge, these guys are truly caring and amazing.
The new location is off to a great start! There's an almost overwhelming array of products to choose from. I found it a bit confusing at first and the store was quite hot during the summer so I didn't really want to linger. But I can't wait to go back.
Was beautiful to first go inside. In my own opinion things aren't organized very clearly making it a bit of a guessing game to find things. Staff with merely point you in the direction of things which is normally manageable in stores with better organization. The atmosphere was relatively tense and the attitude coming from the owner was pretty passive aggressive. I used to really like going to the old location I hope that this new one is just figuring things out.
I am taking a water color painting class with Tom Chan. The course is being held right in the facility. The staff are excellent and you can buy anything for art in the retail store. I love it, everything under one roof. Best place in Winnipeg to buy art supplies. The new entrance is going great, will be nice to have a proper disability ramp. I love the new location.
Great selection of supplies for all kinds of projects. I was able to begin a new hobby bookbinding using supplies offered there. The additional coupons for return customers is an added bonus.
They have an amazing selection of everything art - good quality art supplies from quality names. Having said that, I’m a niche shopper - I watercolour paint and am not interested in much else. And, while they have a great selection of several brands of artist quality paint, they fall quite short on paintbrushes- I can never enter an art store without buying at least one brush and I wasn’t tempted at all when I went. Perhaps they have the expensive brushes hidden away, but I was disappointed. None of the usual brands of watercolour brushes seemed available. Their paper selection we also decent. And. Price. I am a definite support of things local. But when I can buy paint and paper at a fraction of the cost like- 25% less expensive on my online go-to stores and have it shipped to my door, I can guarantee I won’t be buying my paint at AE unless it’s a case of desperation. Some have said that sales will lessen the blow. I haven’t seen any good sales yet on premium watercolour paints; if I have to search for a good price, I may as well do it online. Too bad.
Artist Emporium is not very accessible. You can’t enter the building without going up several steps. The prices are expensive. Some items are not priced though so you don’t know the cost. It is a cool store to browse or find many different art supplies mostly for painting. Staff are friendly and ask if you need help. Parking is not very good. The hours are too short with closing at 5pm.
One thing I miss most about Winnipeg since I moved is Artist's Emporium. I love this store. It always has everything I need and inspirational items to lead me in new directions. The classes are top notch. I took the soap stone carving class and loved it. This has been my go to store for years, and my recent visit back to Winnipeg had me at their new location buying supplies.
This is the best art store in Manitoba. They offer free delivery outside of Winnipeg, which is amazing! Now I can shop "local" and not use "Amaz...." which makes me feel good. Mind-blowing selection and very knowlegeable staff. I feel welcome whenever I'm at this store or order online.
