Original review was from Winter 2019. edit was 2022. This for the South Peace region for the Tumbler Ridge area. Its the worst maintained highway I have ever driven on. The trucks all run belly blades no front blades and the belly blade does absolutely nothing and with large amounts of snow the snow just goes over top of the blade anyways because the blade is only 15-18 inches tall and designed for residential only not highways, should have the front blade on for this area with the amount of snow we get. I literally have a picture edited: pictures have been added where I stopped and taken it from a second the snowplow went by on the side and I was on the other side where it had snow still and it was the exact same, couldn't even tell the difference that it was "cleaned", the truck did nothing. The shoulders are not cleaned properly as you can't even tell where the side of the highway is even at cause they plow the shoulder flush with the surface of the highway. They fling sand onto the center line every 20 feet but nothing on the lanes where its actually needed. I also know of people that have been behind a truck and they go to pass and the people get blasted in the windshield when the truck opens it up as they pass. They also use a loader to clean off the bridges in the area and I was driving back late at night into town 2 days ago and went around this blind corner and suddenly saw this loader moving all over the road with no warning except his headlights were on notifying that they were there working...like no signage or nothing, that's an accident waiting to happen.
The road clearing and maintenance on Highway 24 from Little Fort up the hill to the CRD sign is appalling. In speaking to them they do not have the required equipment as the stretch about 1/2 way up the hill to the CRD sign has 1 to 2 inches of ice and the road even with passing lanes is too narrow as 1/4 of the road surface has 2 inches of ice pack on it. How does Dawson manage to keep their sections of highway 24 safe and clear? Argo has one truck and it is not properly equipped. Why does the Ministry not crack down on this mismanagement? Just read the reviews!
Good morning Argo. I was told that you are responsible for the road maintenance on Shuswap Road east in Kamloops. If so just wanted to let you know your crews did a poor job installing the cattlegards. I was riding my motorcycle yesterday and blow the front tire and bent the rim going over the first one. Only sign was loose gravel which I slowed my bike down didn’t help. Now the bike is the shop. This will happen again hopefully no one will get seriously injured.
Driving north on Highway 97 just south of Falkland passed an Argo sand truck traveling south opposite direction than myself. This Argo truck was most likely traveling close to the speed limit of 90 km while spreading gravel. As I saw it approach I could see that he was spreading gravel by the cloud behind the truck. I slowed and pulled over to avoid the gravel, however the Argo truck was just traveling too fast to avoid any damage. The result was 3 rock chips to my wind sheild and several paint chips to the front of my car. I would think that there would be some sort of speed restrictions when these trucks are spread gravel on the road to minimize damage to other vehicles on the road.
After sitting in the ditch for 2 hrs Argo a highway flag company out of Kamloops would not help our tow truck driver with the heavy traffic so we could get out of the ditch .Instead they assisted another truck in the ditch then rolled up there flags and trucks and left us here. Unbelievable that a Company would actually do this to someone in needof assistance. So now 3 hrs later our tow truck driver has to call other flag company to assist him as tradfic is really bad. Remember the name people Argo
Kinda biased, I work here and love it! Steady working crew 24/7, 365 1/4 days a year!
