This store could easily be a 5-star experience if they would do two things: 1. Answer their phone, or return a message. Seriously, I want to buy stuff, call me back! 2. Tell me the right date a product will be in. If you say two weeks and you will call me, then call me. I called you and got no answer, on week 3 so I drove there. Then you tell me another 2 weeks. I just got my Annie Sloan paint from a store in Calgary Interiors to Inspire. It was easier sadly, and they answer the phone! The staff at Apple Box are friendly and knowledgeable, but need to step up their game if they want customers to come back.
I checked the hours of operation on Google before going to the Boutique yesterday and still no one was there! The store was closed. Walked back across the street only to see the owner opening the door and flipping over the 'Open' sign. I walk back to the shop and the owner said she had seen me trying to open the door. Why didn't she call out to let me know she was just walking up the street?? She then proceeded to tell me that the I got the times wrong on Google. I told her it says Thursday 12-5 and she states, "No it doesn't." I reiterated that, yes it does. Very rude! She believed it should have said from 1-5 and that wouldn't matter because it was after 1:00 anyway before the door was open. The shop itself looks like a mess and very unkempt, not at all what it used to be like. Will never go back to this store. Annie Sloan would not be happy.
Today was the THIRD time within two weeks I have ATTEMPTED to visit this store, only to have the opening hours changed VERY last minute. Twice last week I double-checked the store hours on their website and left early on my lunch-break I work downtown, made the 10 minute drive to the store, and by the time I had arrived for the noon opening, they were not open and had updated the website to reflect a revised 1pm opening time. Both times within a 10-15 minute time frame before the posted opening they decided not to open. HOW UTTERLY FRUSTRATING AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Today it happened again for the third time - I was constantly refreshing their website during my drive over to make sure noon was still correct to open and as I was parking in front of the store, at 11:57, they revised the website to change opening hours to 1pm. IS THIS A JOKE? I truly have never experienced such horrific business practices.
After looking at the previous posts seems like my review won’t be unique. Yelp hours are 11-5, Google is 12-5 and website says 1-5. Finally left at 1:20 and the store is still not open. Super disappointed as I travelled a fair distance to get here. It’s the only store in the Edmonton area who sells the brand of paint I’m after. Will get it from Calgary next week when I go there. Biggest pet peeve as a small business owner myself. BE OPEN the hours you post.
Apparently open at noon. I arrived at noon. And they weren't open. Made the mistake of waiting around until 1:30 pm as I drove almost two hours from out of town for this store. Someone saw I was waiti. G out front and they told me "ya, they have funny hours" as in they open when they feel like it. Nobody ever showed up during my long wait and numerous phone calls.
Excellent store, knowledgeable - the owner, Leanne, is terrific - had so many answers for my questions - but I always touch base before I go to the store, that way I know my time is not wasted - read many reviews where the owner was not there - things happen - it is a family run business phone ahead first - in some cases family is more important than business - I would never venture out without phoning to see they are open - end of story
Absolutely the best place for workshops, paint, knick knacks, advice and more! Leanne is amazing, the staff are super helpful and I'll be back time and time again!
They are never open. This is the 3rd time I have come to their location during business hours in the last few months and they are closed! They also do not answer their phone. When they are open however they have great service and products. I just wish they would be open during their posted business hours.
I didn't look up the time the store opened but was in the neighbourhood so waited for a couple of hours but well after the advertized opening time of noon, the store was still not open. Really disappointing business practice and I was not the only person there waiting.
Friendly helpful service! Beautiful products! Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is amazing to work with.
