Our group of 8 just returned from Yellowknife with Anderson and it was a ‘bucket list’ trip of a lifetime. We were welcomed into private Lodges and Cabins and had the pleasure to spend time with some incredible people. The tour was incredibly well organized and our tour guides, Zack and Jessie, were patient, kind and professional. This is a trip for adventurous souls seeking a unique experience in a remote location. We were thrilled with our accommodation and the food was great! We met incredible people who welcomed us into their homes and gratuitously shared their stories and expertise about life ‘north of 60’. As the location is remote you need to go into this experience with an open mind and a willingness to roll with the punches. You will need to check your 5 star expectations at the door and understand that you are a guest in a wild and wonderful small town filled with larger than life personalities. Personally we found everything to be top notch and we were very well taken care of. If you seek an adventure this tour is for you. We loved every single second of this trip and Anderson did a phenomenal job from start to finish. I highly recommend this trip to any one looking for an ‘out of the box’ experience. 5 stars. Highly recommend.
NEVER AGAIN Anderson Vacations !! Same for "Adventures Abroad" since you own Anderson Vacations. This was an extremely pricey 21 day vacation tour of the Maritimes + Newfoundland. What you advertised was a 55 seat highway cruiser and the promise of ample seating for the 24 passengers. What we ended up with the first half of trip was a converted school bus with just barely functional seating for 28 with no usable toilet facilities with an unbearable smell, and a bus with a poorly functioning A/C unit, there was no functioning intercom unit either, those of us seated permanently at the back if the bus heard very little about the surrounding scenery dedcriptions. And the bus had very rough suspension. Despite claims of poor functionality of the bus, nothing was done till the Newfoundland part of the trip when 8 more passengers were added and we finally got the bus we were promised. This hurts more because of the fact that previous to our departure each participant of our part of the tour was asked for an additional $300 to cover "increased fuel expenses" $600 total for us. To add further insult to injury, Anderson's response to all this was pathetic at best. They stated that no cruise buses were available other tour companies we saw on the road at this time didn't have this problem, they did offer a $250 credit to any further Anderson tour - which we will never use ! My personal letter to the company and the V/P of the Canadian division was not personally answered - ouch . I notice in other review responses that Anderson puts their public relations spin on concerning matters like this. It'll be interesting reading their response, since no specific response was presented to me, to date. Consider the above and be warned folks.
Zach had our northern lights tour planned beautifully. It was a great group of people and we were fortunate enough to see the lights all three nights we went out. The guides were very knowledgeable and made it very enjoyable.
This review is to honor Paula Osborne of the Calgary branch. She put together a large package for me under the difficult circumstances of having to....well, to deal with me! Circumstances outside of my control complicated things, but Paula was professional, non-judgemental, and just plain fun to work with. It's always nice to deal with someone who has a sense of humor! We haven't taken our tour yet, but I am totally confident that it will be as much of a success as working with Paula has been. Paula, I hope your boss sees this because you definitely deserve a bonus!
We waited 3 years to take what we hoped would be a dream trip to Haida Gwaii. What Anderson promised on their brochure was nothing like the reality we experienced. The accommodations in Queen Charlotte City were awful! A shower that just dribbled water, two very uncomfortable chairs, and the room was so dark it felt like a tomb. The itinerary was nothing like we expected. The tour guide seemed to be improvising as we went along. I would never book with them again.
We had 5 nights 6 days on our vacation. Our hotel at Best Western Gold Rush Inn. Very clean & the people were great. Enjoyed having the pub downstairs for breakfast & dinner. Our trip was very full & little time for sleep. One of the best parts of our trip was the helicopter tour. Our pilot was Malcolm. He was fantastic. We were also greeted by the owner. It was a perfect way to start our tour. That afternoon we went on a tour of the Wildlife preserve & Hot Springs. Being Canadian the animals were not rare except for the Linx and the Hot Springs was disappointing. The water was not HOT & not very clean. The next day was a full day of Snowmobiling. My husband drove the snowmobile & I rode on the back. I was very happy my husband was experienced with snowmobiling in his younger days. Our guide KGO was fantastic. He was very patient & knowledgeable. He made our day unforgettable. That evening we went for a viewing of the Northern lights & were able to see them through the camera & purchased a picture. Our guide Motto was very determined to assist us with this. The only upsetting part of our tour was the dogsledding. Mind you we only had 3 hours sleep from the night before. I was told that I could not ride in the slay on a 1/2 day tour. I was not given any choice when booking this tour with you originally. I have gone dog sledding in Algonquin Park and their dogs were trained to stop with a special word & far more in control. I lasted 2 1/2 hours after being thrown 3 times!! it was a miracle I wasn't hurt. This tour is not for the average city person who has very little experience with this activity. The description of this tour was "a gentle ride through the serene Whitehorse area" May I suggest that you offer modified options for those of us to choose from. The guests at our hotel would meet in the lobby to discuss our tours & I am not the only person who had very BAD experience of this tour. Word of mouth will be getting out & will hurt this tour.
Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I wanted to book a multi-city tour with them, it took 2 weeks to get an email response from Andersons for a tentative itinerary. My reply to that email was never answered. Perhaps things get lost in cyberspace..... Being patient I called to try and book the trip with an agent. I stressed to the agent on the phone that I was really interested and wanted to book the trip. She said she needed to verify hotel availability and would get back to me shortly. That was 10 days ago and still no reply. Needless to say I went ahead and booked the entire trip myself. Please stay away from Anderson travel, they have no idea what good customer service is.
“Hi Darcie, I just wanted to let you know that it has been an absolute pleasure working with Vasil. He is incredibly patient with my changes and putting together the most amazing itinerary for my clients and I am ready to book the first couple. I am so happy that we have met.
