AMI-Québec is a grassroots organization committed to helping families manage the effects of mental illness through support, education, guidance and advocacy. By promoting understanding, we work to dispel the stigma still surrounding mental illness, thereby helping to create communities that offer new hope for meaningful lives.
Mental illnesses, known to be biologically based brain disorders, can profoundly disrupt a person’s ability to think, feel, and relate to others. As you may have experienced, mental illness affect not only individuals, but their families, friends, and everyone around them.
AMI-Québec’s programs are designed to help you better cope with the hardships and burdens caused by mental illness. Our programs include:
• Support Groups: Weekly sessions where confidential discussion and sharing are encouraged in a small group setting.
• Workshops: Mindfulness, Resilience, Art Expression, LEAP, and more
• BPD Education: intensive sessions that focus on shared experience and practical tools to help caregivers who have a loved one living with BPD.
• Teleworkshops: An expert presents a specific topic by phone. Get your questions answered! Available across Canada.
• Share & Care Newsletter: A quarterly newsletter including information on various services, coping strategies, etc.
• Library: A wealth of information on mental illness and related issues; over 600 books and DVDs.
• Counselling for caregivers
• Public Awareness: Presentations to schools about mental health and mental illness.
