This place is very nice! Really neat architecture and seems to have a sizeable selection of content. I had engagement pictures done here with my fiance and the staff was super nice and helpful. They didn't even charge for doing pictures! I would still recommend a donation since the staff are wonderful people who helped us a lot. The grounds are what sets this library apart. There are many nice libraries out there but not many have the kind of landscaping this one has. Great for relaxing outside with a book.

Fantastic facility. Just voted as one of the best small libraries in America (again!). The reading room is like something from a movie. The children's area is great and has much to offer. There's always something going on, so check the website for information. Also, the library website has discount passes for local museums and zoos.

The Queset House, a property owned by and right next door to the Ames Library, is a beautiful place to host an event! I attended a bridal shower there in September 2011 and was very impressed with the space provided for the party. The gardens are very well kept, and the house is spectacular. Everything is fully period and well restored if not original. The library may be the last place you'd think of to host an event, but this one is a great value for a lovely, first-rate location. And, you're supporting a great community landmark, too!
