Hotel was clean and housekeeping was great. The hotel hot tub. Was broken from the day we arrived. The front desk kept telling us to check tomorrow. We were there Sunday to Friday and no one ever worked on the hot tub. The gym was good, and the restaurant in the hotel had a wing night and it was also pretty good. Good location easy to walk to some restaurants.
I think this is a second 1 star review I have ever written. Do not stay here. We got stuck being assigned here as a hockey team without the ability to choose our specific hotel. If you are attending a tournament - I suggest you contact the organizers and ask that you be assigned to a new location. Run down, dirty, difficult staff, poor dining quality, and their tournament pricing does not compensate for this. There is a reason it is a 3 star rating. We had to request new comforters 3 times because the ones they brought were stained. I am in discussions with their GM to receive compensation/credit for the experience. I promise to update this review if the recovery is appropriate.
This used to be a Holiday Inn, now after a good renovation it's part of the Allure chain. The location is right off the 400, a couple of restaurants are just a short walk away. Rooms are big. We had one on the ground floor in the other tower that was 3 floors with balconies. It was great to sit outside having a coffee in the morning. Comfy beds, good a/c, rooms have a mini fridge. Staff are great.
The check in experience at Allure was painfully slow when we stayed on Sep 28 2024. There was just one person working the desk and a line of about 5 people waiting to check in. Everything else about our stay was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and zero complaints about the room. The price was competitive and reasonable. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Barrie.
The location is perfect being right off the 401but that is by far the only thing that was good. Started when I called to confirm my room on day I was arriving, was told they sold the accessible room because I had not arrived yet. Said the room they were giving me was better because I wouldn’t have to walk far to get into my room. The path to my room was uneven broken pavement and small rectangular stones. It is not a safe solution for me as I have stability issues and walk with a walker. Inside the room, black stains on the carpet, all over. It didn’t look like the actual carpet had been vacuumed in a while as there was a thick layer of dust on the floor. The bathroom was so small, the toilet super low, and NO grab bars. This is crucial for me getting on and off toilet. There was one bar at back of tub/shower, and nothing else in the shower. There wasn’t even a little bar for wash rag. When I called on my cell phone, because room phone did not work, was told that they were full, there was nothing they could do, because I booked the room with Hotwire. I had to shower at my friends house, and I had several extremely close calls regarding stability. I arrived on a Friday, left on Monday, and the only reason I had stayed at this hotel was because my niece and nephew were going to go swimming. Called office to confirm pool would be open at posted times. No, it had to be chemically tested. 400 hundred dollars on Hotwire, 77 dollar resort fee daily. This is not a resort, the hotel had no amenities. No one cleans the grounds. There wasn’t even trash and cigarette butts all over. I spent so much money, for a cheap motel feel. That is all you get here. Lastly, I was only able to access two outlets, when I called the front desk again with cell phone, they stumbled around said sorry and then just hung on the line. Offed no solutions at all.
