Alex did a fantastic job on a very difficult boot to repair. He does require payment upfront but I am fine with that coz his work was excellent on a hard to repair boot. I will go back anytime
Definitely pay attention to the older reviews. First the positives - Quick service, friendly at first. Brought in a pair of loafers to have sole taps on the front and heels of my pricey loafers. I come in, the front taps are fine but the heels were so misaligned it was laughable. When I asked why it was like he basically brushed me off saying it's not a problem and they will be fine- obviously not OK. When I asked him to fix them he started to give me attitude and sarcastically asked if I wanted him to use tape measurement I wish I had a picture but I left my phone in my car because I thought it was going to be a quick in and out As he started to redo them for the life of him he could not get them aligned to match both shoes then he said "Ok you do it then" which I promptly did in less than 1 minute. If you care about your shoes DO NOT bring them here. He has no pride as a shoemaker, is extremely sloppy and rude after you ask him about his sloppy work. AVOID PLEASE.
Definitely do not pay attention to the older reviews. Went to Alex's Shoe Repair to have my insoles repaired. Alex was absolutely awesome! He was super professional, nice and did an amazing job. Super fair price too. Thank you Alex, I will be back when needed.
Just went in today to get holes punched for my husband's belt. The owner was pleasant and helpful and was done in less than 2 minutes and he didn't charge me. This was such a nice surprise and although a small gesture it was appreciated. I will be paying it forward. Will be back if I need shoe repairs.
Alex did a great job fixing the heel on my wife's heels. It was a simple transaction, and I am unsure what these other reviews are explaiming. Keep in mind his business is "cash only." When I gave him the heels, he made it clear that there might be a chance he would not be able to do the job I appreciated the honesty. He told me to come back the next day, and I did. The heels were fixed, and he even cleaned the leather. I will go back to him again in the future.
I had a really great experience. The negative reviews are from years ago before the ownership changed. An Asian gentleman did my shoe repair and resoling and did a wonderful job. Clean, neat, precise. I’m very satisfied and would return again. Recommend! Keep in mind that there is a deposit when dropping off your shoes and that it is cash only.
Best shoe repair in Richmond!!! There is a new owner, he is a lovely Asian man. The old reviews are from the previous owner. I went to two other shoe repair stores and both said they could not do it, or would not do it. Went to this store and the store owner did an amazing job. Highly recommend, you wont be disappointed!
There is a new owner, I droppped off my Birkenstocks for new soles on Wednesday and he had them ready on Friday with new Vibram soles. I asked him to install heel protectors, just to make them last longer, he did a great job! Will come again!
Super nice, honest and great service for my shoes. Alex punched some holes in my heels and was very friendly and quick.
I wish I do some research about this store before I took my shoes to Alex's Shoe Repair. I always like to support the local small business; therefore, I decide to try the service there. When I took my shoes for the sole repair $17 Alex asked me to pick up my shoes at the second day. I didn't rush him, I was not in the hurry to get my shoes. At the second day, I purposely went to his store later of the day, thinking he will have enough time to fix my shoes. When I went to the store, there was another man with him, they seems to have some trouble to find something. After a while, the man ask Alex to help me first. I told them "it's ok", but Alex still come to help me. It took him a while to realized which is my shoes and where is it. However, he told me the shoes is not ready yet, I should come pick up the next business day which is few days after. I told him "but you told me to pick up today" according to the ticket he gave me and he says "when I say it's not ready and it's not ready, or you can wait". I told him "it's your business, you should plan better". I was very upset with the service, and I told him I will go somewhere and come back later. During the entire conversation, the tone I used was calm. After I pick up my shoes it wasn't done nicely, the men who was in the store earlier I don't know their relationship, maybe somewhat related..., starts to attack me verbally. He yelled at me, he used the F word and ask me to go back to my own F@#$% country. It was a very horrible experience and I felt very unsafe as well. Ironically, Alex has the "Best of Richmond" certificate hang on the wall..... Especially ladies, please be aware of this shop~
