Brought my camera 2 months ago on a Friday. I was told it would be ready by Monday. It’s been 2 months and it’s still not ready nor have I been contacted.
He kept my camera for over 2 months before telling me he couldn't fix the issue and charged me $50 for the service and "cleaning". Since I got it back, the lens release button has been sticking, causing issues with my all-purpose lens. So not only am I out the $50 plus the cost of a replacement lens for the one he couldn't repair, I am now looking for a different repair shop. Needless to say I won't be back.
This is a funny little place. Smells like cigarette smoke. Dimly lit, but ... the man knows his vintage equipment and is able to refurbish lenses. He is a stickler for details. He is in no rush the get your work done. I have shown up twice to pick up lenses only to be told that he needs more time. Sometime you have to call him to remind him to finish the work. But the work he does do is top notch, and at a reasonable price.
I dropped my digital camera and then had issues with the lenses, so I brought it there. The owner was very helpful and had already an idea of what could be wrong. He takes an 25$ estimate, but only when he can't fix it. After four days I had my camera back, all fixed for a really good price. It looks as good as new, you could never tell that someone worked on it. I definitely recommend this place.
Dropped two cameras off for repair and was quoted $35/unit for an estimate within three days. Never got the call, and after phoning back four times over a six-week period was told that parts were not available for one camera 3 yr old Fujifilm, and that the tech had fried the main circuit board while trying to diagnose the fault in the Canon. On bringing the Canon camera back home, a freshly charged battery revealed that the main board was in fact fine and that none of the additional faults described in store were present. I honestly suspect that neither camera was ever opened.
I was suggested this place from Simon's on St Antoine. I had two identical lenses in need of repair and I needed at least one of them pronto. As I was leaving on vacation within the next 10 days, I was told this was the place because Canon would take at least 6 weeks. So I dropped off two lenses and the main guy looked at them and suspected a lens barrel issue for one and electronics for the other. He bragged about being "the guy" that fixes everything and said he'd call me back in 48hrs to give me an estimate of the repair for each lens. He never called. When I called 72hrs later, he said he hadn't opened them up yet and that he'd do it before the end of day and call me back. He never called. The weekend went by and when I got a hold of him a few days later he said that one lens was un-repairable and that he could cannibalize it to repair the other. Obviously this was not my goal as these were 1,000$ lenses. Add to that, he said he'd only be able to do it in a couple of days...when I was going to be gone on vacation. I told him to forget it and that I'd pick up everything upon my return; which I did and he had the honour of charging me 35$/lens for his time. It cost me 70$ for nothing. I got the lenses, sent them to Canon on a Friday and by the following Thursday, I already had an estimate for a complete factory specification repair for the two lenses. If you can, just deal with Canon. This guy's on my blacklist.
Super kind owner ! came for lens check and got tons of advice and recommendations ? Thank you Yuko !
Brought in a perfectly working condition vintage mechanical camera for CLA clean, lubricate, adjust. The guy said he will call me in 2-3 days. He made an estimate to repair the light meter for $140.00 +tx, which I never asked for. He said he can not check the shutter speed because the light meter does not work. Total BS. 10 days later I had to pay $40.00 for the estimate to get back my camera. The guy never called, I had to call twice to find out about my camera.
Best repair shop for cameras and accessories in town. Had 2 separate flash repairs done with 1 week turn over. Owner is very knowledgeable and does it local. I have so much respect for his craftsmanship. Flashes still work to this date. Forget the other repair ships get it done locally by this ship. For my repairs, deposit went towards the cost of the repair. I have sent several of my photographer friends here with the same A++ class service repair.
This was the worst. He's had my lens for 6 months and ended up charging me 400$ to repair the wrong part and didn't fix the problem. He didn't listen to a word I said- so I made him undo his work and took it somewhere else.
