I have been a client of Wensten Accounting Inc. since 2011. I'm happy to be part of the Wensten family. I said "family," and I did not use the word loosely or lightly. Forest Li, the owner of Wensten Accounting Inc., is not only a professional help to me and my wife; over the years, he has become a friend to us. I have seen how Forest, as a tax and accounting professional, retools himself each year by making sure he didn't miss on professional-development and continuing-education seminars. I have seen how Forest routinely makes himself available as a volunteer resource person in workshops organized for newcomers to Canada, foreign students and, most recently, the refugees. I'm convinced that a business that cares about its community will care as much, or maybe even more so, about its clients.

I am the owner of the business, and I would like to make some responses here to the unfavorable reviews: 1). Thank you all for letting us know your disappointments. We need to do better, and we will do better in the future. 2). To Ma Li: I cannot find any records of yours, so I do not know who you are, what services you requested and why you were not satisfied. If you let us know, we will do what we can to help you; 3). To Miss Tamzida Rahman: we charged you $35.40 + HST = $40.00 to prepare and file your 2016's return to CRA (Canada Revenue Agency). Please verify the invoice of $40.00 attached to your original reporting documents. According to our records, you are estimated to receive: a). A tax refund of $1XX; b). GST credit $2XX.00; c) Ontario Trillium Benefits (OTB) $6XX.00; and d) Unused education credits $8,xxx.00 for future use For privacy, I omitted some actual numbers with X. Based on our experience of 20 years in tax filing services, we would have never guaranteed you the actual amounts, because we know the actual amounts would be subject to the acceptation of your claims by CRA, and we would have told you about this, because this is what we all the time. For example, if you are asked by CRA to provide your rental receipts but you fail to do so, your OTB would be reduced; If you are asked to provide T2202A but fail to do so, your education credits would be reduced to zero . Also, because you were new to Canada in 2016, CRA may ask you to provide supporting documents to prove your residency in Canada, if you do not send supporting documents to CRA, you would not receive any benefits. I have told you, to obtain the maximum tax benefits, you need to do your part, and we are always here to help. To the best of my knowledge, you have never asked us to help you with any of these. In 2017 through the New Canadians Centre Peterborough we helped over 50 Syria families and refugees to file their income tax returns, free of charge. Since 2000 we present free Income tax Workshops to new immigrants, international students and community organizations. We are serious about our services, take care of our clients' needs, and contribute lots to our community. We are always here to help if you need.
