Not following Vancouver or BC COVID-19 precautions/guidelines. People packed in, with no visible distancing or sanitization process.
Soccer and coffee that will actually wake you up. What else do you need for happiness? Great owners. Friendly and fun. Good pizza. Great atmosphere. If you come to watch a World Cup or Euro game you need to be here at least an hour before kickoff because its standing room only after that. A+
FOOTBALL cafe soccer for you for the fanatics of the sport, is playing in there in any major matches! Great coffee. Very friendly staff members and a crazy atmosphere where the time is correct. I visit this place over 15 years now and always it was very friendly and inviting. You should visit this place. It's a MUST for the drive.
COVID precautions maybe not the most present, but aside from that context, this place is a very welcoming and comfortable environment for friends, food, coffee, soccer etc. The prices are super cheap, the staff is very accommodating, and it seems like it is more focused on being a hub for the commercial community rather than making as much money as possible. Good variety of stuff to order as well. Has a trademark East Vancouver-Italian “home” atmosphere. Will be returning with friends in the future.
Delicious home made Macedonia with my favourite ice cream!!
What a treat it was to spend the evening there! It’s been a while that I feel THIS welcome. Like at home, visiting my grandpa who made me a coffee. I didn’t believe I’ll ever find a place in Vancouver that will make me want to keep coming back. Thank you tons!
Good coffee, watched a world cup match there. The staff was a bit too pushy though. I had just finished my coffee and they made me feel like I had to order again to keep standing there to watch the game. I get wanting to make sure customers are ordering, not just taking up space but there is a better way to do it.
I've always loved coming here to watch European and English football matches. It's a strange place. Very traditional italian old boys who hang out, debate, disciss and yell at each other no matter whats going on. It definitely has a vibe of belonging to them in a slightly cosa nostra way. The English football fans make it theirs on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The English guys are hilarious. Overall, the football fans make you feel welcome, or at least shuffle over to make room for you as their eyes are glued to the game. The food and coffee is an afterthought even if the proprietors dont realize it. It's something to obligatorily consume while you're watching the game but it's very average. The one highlight has been the sfogliatella....home-made italian pastry which is quite nice. Goes nice with their passable cappuccino.
Alas the business has changed hands!! The coffee is sour, cold and the pizza isn't what it use to be. When the place had 5 stars; I use to live in the east end growing up and discovered coffee at an early age. The shops on commercial drive developed my pallet and desire for good food, wine and coffee. Even after I moved away I still make the drive to shop there. Things have changed a lot; there are no more street dances in the summer; throngs of people walking and greet each other on a summer night but you can discover the quality and tastes of that time gone by in the coffee and pizza at Abruzzo's. Cynthia
Terrible place! Their sample lasagna behind glass was more mold than anything else!! Filth everywhere. How this place is t flagged by a health inspector is beyond me.
