Perfect Date night! Casual and comfortable but 5 star service and food. Pictured below Duck dumplings and Brussels Sprouts marshmallow crème brûlée and key lime tart. Morgan was absolutely fantastic she answered all questions and really made us feel at home. I was really impressed when she jumped behind the bar to help out when they got behind. Check this place out and have a amazing time
Last night we enjoyed 801 Grill for the first time AND for our anniversary dinner! We started with a bottle of the Peirano Estate Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, California 2017. It was delicious, not too heavy, and not too dry with great flavor to compliment our steaks. Perfect for sipping all throughout our meal. We began by splitting a caesar salad. A classic caesar salad to start a meal beats a house salad any day in my book. The baked parmesan crisp was a nice, unique touch. Could’ve done without the whole anchovy on my plate though. We also shared some warm dinner rolls with butter alongside our salads. They were honestly average dinner rolls - not any Cheesecake Factory bread or Texas Roadhouse rolls by any means. Could have been softer and hotter with maybe a sweet butter. I think you can base a lot on a restaurant’s bread. For our entrees we each ordered a 12 oz. medium New York Strip with garlic butter - mine with lobster macaroni and cheese topped with bread crumbs, my significant other’s with buttery mashed yukon gold mashed potatoes. The steaks were definitely the best part and why shouldn’t they be? They were cooked PERFECTLY. That sear... so juicy and excellently seasoned. The mashed potatoes were also great and a good portion. The lobster mac and cheese could have been bigger. It was so rich and creamy though... absolutely delicious! Which is why I wanted more lol. My only complaint other than the size would be that there was just one little piece of lobster in there... I would recommend just getting the regular mac and cheese. Our last anniversary we went to J.Gilbert's and their lobster mac and burnt ends mac... and for that matter their BREAD were all much more noteworthy. Our server was fantastic and attentive, the atmosphere was romantic, the seating was appropriately distanced at every other table, and they let us choose a dessert on the house for anniversary. We chose the chocolate decadence cake topped with chocolate ganache and with a small scoop of Ted and Wally's rice crispy ice cream. Again, only complaint is that it could have been bigger. “Decadence” makes you think bigger. But it was very moist and absolutely delicious. Overall no regrets, and definitely recommend checking this place out.
Great service, food really tasty, wonderful flavors and healthy portions. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, so delicious! Pleasantly surprised how quiet and the staff worked hard to accommodate our large party by giving us a private room. Great experience!
This restaurant is very comfortable. to share with good friends, your partner or family. The food is delicious. Served hot and very tasty.
The food was delicious and full of flavor, not to mention large portions, the atmosphere was really nice, and the service was really good. We got the lamb burger, steak salad, and cheese cake and all were incredible.
We have been to the 801 Grill a couple times, once for the patio vibes in fall and once in winter. We sat all the way near the kitchen at a small table with a wobbly chair. It was dimly lit, but you could still read the menu. The tables were very close together and it was difficult to walk around. The staff kept bumping into one member of our party as they turned the corner. It was a busy night and all the table were full. We ordered the crab dip for the appetizer and it was okay. The bread they have at the tables is delicious though! We also had the Brussel sprouts that were delicious. Our entrees were the prime rib and the fish with saffron rice. The prime rib entree was delicious. Unfortunately the fish halibut, I believe with saffron rice was not so much. The rice was super mushy and not light and fluffy. The fish was not seasoned very well and the asparagus still had the hard-to-chew ends. Overall it was an okay dinner. We all expected a bit more from this restaurant at the end of the meal.
A wonderful NYE meal. Our party of 4 started off with the crab dip and truffle fries. So delicious- especially the fries. Then we each has filet or prime rib… everything was amazing. The staff was attentive, cocktails and dessert delicious too.
Wife and I ventured to 801 for happy hour and boy were we ever happy we did. Started off with a couple of cocktails. Wife loved the Troon..so much she had two..I know the nights going to be great when that happens. I had the old fashioned and it was well made. I had the Cheesesteak sandwich and the chef told me it was the best in Omaha..id say it was right up there but the old cheese choice of yellow American caused a slight deduction. The steak was the real attraction and it was well seasoned. The prime crostini was outstanding as well and we could have easily ordered another. Got to spend about 15 mins chopping it up with the Chef. He was personable and told us about the menu and we got to know a bit about him. Great dude. Overall a great night with great food and drink. We will be back soon to have dinner.
We had an early reservation on Valentines Day. Service and food was very good. Signature cocktails are pricey but VERY good. Never disappointed for a special dinner.
Disappointing experience. I ordered scallops entree and got 3 smallish scallops with one asparagus spear cut into smaller pieces and a small portion of risotto. For $39, I expected more food. The plating was nice but it didn’t make up for the inadequate portion size. We did not get bread with our meal, which would’ve helped, and my husband’s Caesar salad was missing the Parmesan crisps. His shrimp scampi pasta was just ok, but he at least got a decent amount of food. Food overall needed more seasoning. I received the wrong beverage but decided that it wasn’t worth sending back as our service had been slow enough. We won’t return.
