My personal concept of “Zen”........................
The intention here at Zen is to provide a calm, peaceful and therapeutic space (and fabulous treatments) to those seeking wellness and retreat from daily stress. The primary therapies offered here are massage and nutrition. Many clients over the years have remarked on how relaxed they felt after a treatment and how peaceful and “Zen like” their experience was here.
The name “Zen” I have chosen, is derived from the simple reference to peace, calm and lack of worry. This would be in contrast to the hurried, driven rush that most of us tend to experience on a daily basis. The urban-slang meaning of “Zen” is “peaceful, in the moment, and not engaging the rush of the outside world.” Many of us are in perpetual motion, always looking forward to the next task, goal or worry and not stopping to enjoy the present moment. This is your invitation to “Be still.”
Stress related illnesses are the norm and health and balance have gone out the window. You are invited to experience your selection of massage at Zen and have a conversation about how some simple nutrition and lifestyle choices can change your life! I personally believe that nutritional choices, healthy activity, healthy personal perspective and stress reduction are keys to health, happiness and longevity. This is clearly endorsed by health literature from experts all over the world. Let’s improve the QUALTY of your life!

CARRIE'S BIO......
Carrie Cottage-Bailey, owner and practitioner at Zen Massage & Nutrition, invites you to escape the daily stresses and cares of hurried life with a selection of specialty massage therapies, right here in Thorold.
In 2001, immersed in an industry of adrenaline and stress herself, Carrie pursued her passions, resulting in certification in General Arts & Science at Niagara College. It was there that she reaffirmed her love for biological and social sciences. Following the birth of daughter Hannah in 2003, Carrie went on to pursue certification as a Reflexologist, through the Ontario College of Reflexology. Anxious to escape a stressful industry, she opened her first Massage and Reflexology endeavor fresh out of school, across from Montebello Park in St. Catharines in 2004.
Since then, Carrie has also come to acquire certification in various massage therapies (Hot Stone, Swedish, Egyptian Head & Neck), training in Esthetics and Body Sugaring and Specialty Facials. Carrie has also been certified through The Institute for Optimal Wellness (Fort Erie) as a Nutrition & Wellness Consultant and Educator. Preventative Health is an area of expertise.
In 2006, the business grew and took on a spa like theme, moving into the heart of downtown St. Catharines, onto the corner of Geneva and Bond (you may remember the name “Hannah’s Euro Spa”). After several years of successful operation, it was time to make a more permanent move – to Thorold. Zen Massage & Nutrition has emerged out of years of professional experience and personal evolution, specializing in therapeutic and quality massage treatments (7 specific varieties of massage). You are invited to discover your favourite kind of massage at Zen.
Carrie finds that balance and personal peace are very important. It is important to do what you love and use your personal gifts. Her educational aspirations continue to flourish in the direction of holistic health. Carrie now finds herself comfortably busy with a multitude of interests. When she is not with a client, she can be found tending to her oversized garden, walking great distances, reading, feeding cats or spending time with friends and/or family. Carrie is excited to be part of the business growth in downtown Thorold and loves her local community. There will be further growth at the Zen location in the spring – keep your eyes peeled :-)
