I recommend visiting the visitor center when you travel. They were very friendly and I got a Yellowknife visitor certificate and a free badge. They also have travel guides for each country, so it would be a good idea to visit on the first day you arrive in Yellowknife to get some information.
I went to Yellowknife, Canada to see the Aurora.Since we were going to see the Aurora at night, there was nothing to do during the day. If that happens, please visit herenYou will receive a free certificate of having reached 60th parallel north and a yellow sword badge. You can also see 3D aurora footage.
Enter though 50th street entrance on the weekends and especially Sunday when the mall is closed. Lovely friendly staff and beautiful Indigenous items on display. And!! Make sure to get your north of 60 certificate and Yellowknife pin!
So as an FYI, the Yellowknife Visitor’s Center has been relocated to Centre Square Mall. What an interesting center they have created here. Many examples of art, installations, and valuable information. The staff here is super nice and very informative. If you are looking to see the Northern Lights, they will provide you with great info and pamphlets regarding where to go and when to be out, along with websites where you can track the possibility of Aurora and even a live cam of the sky that you can check to see if there’s anything to see. Also they have a lot of info on the city itself, and the past history and the places to visit.
Discovered this centre by accident after arriving in Yellowknife and having some free time after previously booked tour was cancelled; staff were extremely helpful and gave me useful contacts to enable alternative arrangements for our limited time there — many thanks …
