Since opening in 1981 Woodgrove Centre has remained the market dominant shopping centre in central Vancouver Island. With over 140 stores and services including The Bay, Walmart, Sport Chek, Chapters, Old Navy, Toys R Us and Winners, Woodgrove is the number one choice for fashion, selection and convenience.

So, what to say about this mall?nnWell for starters. Everything that made this mall fun an unique is gone. The water powered clock. The roof top parking lot. Hudson's Bay. All the good stores are gone and the void has been filled with overpriced athletic stores and more along the lines of a girls mall now.nnYou better be rich if you plan to visit this mall. Cause everytime I go here I spend $300 bucks and walk out with just a couple little things. I sit there in my car in the parking lot disappointed and struggling to understand what I bought that was worth so much.nnBring back local businesses. Bring back what made this mall fun and unique. Bring back what I loved about this mall. And bring back the woodgrove I used to know.nnGrowing up I seen visiting this mall as an amusement park. Stores were interesting and packed with creative and fun things for a reasonable price. So many colours all over the place. The water clock was my wishing well.nnWhen my family finally moved to the island some years later I was so sad to see that the mall was so bleak and depressing.nnI basically never go and never want to go. Just overpriced garbage and big chain stores. No more fun. It was painted black and white and had these sad tile floors put in that are colourless.nnI only go to the mall for Walmart to these days.
Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo is a fantastic place for a day out. It's clean, well-maintained, and has everything you need to get things done, whether you're shopping or just looking for a nice place to walk.nThe mall has a solid variety of stores, and I was pleased to see a Winners right there. The food court is a definite highlight, with plenty of diverse options to choose from—it's not just your typical fast food. The walking areas are spacious and well-lit, making it easy to get some exercise while you browse, and the washrooms are notably clean.nFor those with electric vehicles, the Tesla chargers in the long parking lot are a huge plus.nThe only small downside I found was with the parking lot itself. While it's very large and has plenty of space, finding a different exit can be a bit confusing. It seems like most people are funneled out through the same main roads, which can get a little busy. A better-marked or more varied exit strategy would be a helpful improvement.nOverall, Woodgrove Centre is a great place to visit. It’s got a clean, modern feel with all the key amenities, and it’s a wonderful spot to spend a few hours. I highly recommend it for both shopping and a relaxing stroll.
Woodgrove Mall is a fantastic place to shop in Nanaimo! It has a great variety of stores, from fashion and home goods to tech and unique local shops, so there’s something for everyone. The layout is easy to navigate, and the mall feels bright and welcoming. It’s also nice to have plenty of food options, whether you want a quick snack or a sit-down meal. Parking is convenient, and the staff around the mall are always friendly. A really enjoyable shopping experience!
A good size shopping mall in the area with lots of brand name stores and local shops. Food court, coffee places and seating areas.nLots of outside free parking as well.nRecommended
It’s a good mall, it has lots of stores, is relatively clean, there is a good food court with bathrooms, near it, you can find a crossing to the landmark cinemas. It’s also connected to Walmart and it’s awesome.nnThis is the biggest mall on the island. And close to the mall is also lots of stores like winners, Dollarama, and more.nnEven if the mall is closed, you can still hang around for a bit after it’s closed.nnI couldn’t find any pictures from the mall.
