"Looks" alike, however, the taste is terrible, really bad. Tried 4 types of ramen/noodles in the menu, all far from the original taste/texture/ingredients. Only surprised me are pork belly and Chili oil must try.
Considered this a 4 star review. As a Japanese ramen lover, I was overjoyed learning a ramen-ya was opening in town. Then they had to put cilantros on their noodle. No cilantros on ANY food! Wasn’t trying to suppress creativities but it was not “ramen”. So I stopped going. They updated their menus, they took out inedible green weedy ingredients, and it actually tasted great now. Keep it up. And leave weeds where it should be. The ground, the dumps, not in the bowls.
OMG my absolute favorite place in Whitehorse, Hands down!! So fresh and so much flavor!! I highly recommend the 2nd most ordered on the menu!! Excellent service, small restaurant, I got around 1-2pm after the lunch rush :
I've had some great ramen and some sub-par ramen here. If you catch them on a day where the broth is full of flavor and the ramen eggs are perfectly marinated, you're in for a treat. Catch them on a bad day and you'll regret paying $20 for a watery bowl of noodles, a slice of pork and a boiled egg. That being said, the bao is always a good.
Wow! Totally worth the visit tonight! Incredible customer service and live music granted it was the last evening of Winterlong Wednesdays. The food was absolutely delightful, a must go if you’re local or just visiting Whitehorse. Just got back from a long day of mountain biking and I’ll be sure to go back again real soon. Plenty of outdoor seating and a great atmosphere.
Ordered tantanmen ramen and it was the worst version of tantanmen ramen i have tasted so far, broth is not creamy and i can't taste any peanut sauce and sesame paste which are the main ingredients for tantanmen's broth. The broth is also too oily and the spice used is too strong. The noodles is undercooked and the nori taste old. Also ordered their drunken noodles which is like a fusion of a pad thai and chopsuey. Taste is okay but it's something that I will not order again. The only thing that we liked is the pork belly bucket. Taste is sweet and meat is crunchy and the fat melts in your mouth. Drinking cup is not washed properly. After putting water on it you will see oil floating. We asked for a new cup but it is still the same.
Delicious! Who would expect authentic ramen in Whitehorse of all places, but it’s fantastic. Great vibe inside and great service. Great baos too.
A though review. I liked their stuff but the sheer difficulty to order and few times they have not had ramen as a ramen shop baffles the mind. They are friendly. The food is very good but not great great, the broth was really good. Other offerings were decent but not standouts. This is not meant as harsh of a critique in that I like in what they are tying to do, and in the Yukon context are the better places to eat. No doubt. My major gripe is that they don't make it easy. I want them to succeed but gotta meet me half way. Go online, let me do online delivery. Let me do phone orders. Be open for longer and earlier. The food is a solid 4.5, it's good very good. It's priced alright, not a deal but not as expensive as it could be. The broth was maybe a tad bit too greasy if I had to say something. Please fix these things and you would not only make more money, make people happy but even dare I say lead the city into a new era of ambitious restaurants.
Vegan miso ramen - best ramen in the Yukon! The portions are massive, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is delicious. Do yourself a favor and eat here!
We just stumbled in there yesterday, quite hungry! What a great coincidence! A vibrant place, very friendly and knowledgeable staff and delicious homemade ramen! And a fantastic local beer selection!
