The best accomodation in town. Up here you won't find and certainly don't expect a Ritz Carlton, but the Wood Buffalo Inn has everything you need for a good night sleep. A bit dated but very well kept suites with separate bedroom and full kitchen, even offering air condition. Lovley grounds with a lot of appreciation for details and decoration. Friendly owners. Quiet location plus my request for an extra quiet room was perfectly fulfilled. Highly recommended - but book ahead, it's often full.
We stayed there 3 adults in June 2024 and really enjoyed the personal service, charm, and history of the Inn. Peter and Freida were fabulous hosts and took good care of our group. My dad had lived in Fort Smith in the 60s so this was an amazing experience revisiting Fort Smith.
Only stayed here for a single night, but the accommodations were great. The Inn is structured as a motel, but the rooms are stocked like entire apartments. If I come back to Fort Smith, I’ll definitely stay here again.
we’ve stayed in ft. smith a handful of times before and had heard that it was the ‘nicest place in town’, so we tried it out. i agree that the rooms are cozy and home like with great amenities, and upon limited interactions the staff/ owners are pleasant and eager to please, however i had a less than ideal experience staying here and when i expressed that to the owners, not only was i dismissed, i was screamed at and threatened.nni stayed here with my partner both femme for four days + four nights. 3/4 of the days the male owner entered our suite while we were there at various times of the day, using a key twice to unlock our door. a fourth time an other staff entered our suite. after the first incident he said it was to check on us, we thanked him and told him we didn’t need anything and if that changed we’d let them know. there is no way other than verbally telling staff not to enter no do not disturb signage for example. i also noticed that staff had entered our suite while we were not present - presumably to restock or refresh, but this wasn’t needed and nothing more than a small amount of trash was removed. another time when he entered he said it was to drop off the bill - walked into our suite and placed it on the table. imagine you get out of the shower and the owner of the inn is standing in your suite … or your taking a nap and you hear someone enter with a key. doesn’t sit quite right.nnwe were told that check out was at 11am and on our last day the owner attempted to enter our suite 3 times, starting at 9:30. we let him know we were still there and to pls not enter while we were packing and getting dressed. then at 10:35 the other owner knocked on our door to see why we hadn’t left and very angrily told us she needed the room and that we’d better be out by 11.nnwhen i returned the key and brought up my concerns with these behaviors, i was yelled at and met with hostility and aggression. i see this has happened before in another comment.nnso it seems to me, if you’re have a good experience here, great. but if you don’t- saying so will only make it worse. i would 10/10 NOT recccomend for female travelers. and after discussing my experience with other folx familiar with the area and the owners, i am not the only one, maybe just the only one brave enough to say so.nnimo, stay at the whooping crane or take the outdated rooms at the pelican inn.
I was treated with such warmth and kindness from Peter and Freida. They ensured that I was very comfortable and felt like family. The suites were clean and welcoming. This is the only place I would choose to stay in Fort Smith unless they are full. Great place. Amazing people.
