We’ve been enjoying and buying David’s wine for years. Last Friday at an insanely busy, fun, musical first Friday we tried the 2016 Barbera and once again the flavor profile was spot on; loads of dark berry fruit on the nose and palate, smooth almost silky mouth-feel and a long lingering finish. The tannins are slightly more forward than traditional Italian producers making a really rounded and luscious wine with still just enough acid forward to make it sip-able and fabulous with food. At almost half the price of a comparable import! David your wines rock my friend. And thanks for giving Sequim a place to go for music and tasty bites to complement your wines. Cheers!
ZERO STARS isn’t an option:DO NOT EVER go to Wind Rose Cellars!! I went in Friday evening 5:30 with my family yes, kids too to purchase wine, glasses, chocolates, and a gift card to put in a gift basket and promote local business. The owner was overwhelmed, with 3 tables present the rest of the place had reserved signs and empty short with me and didn’t have time for my purchase. I said I understood and heard him loud and clear… which he then continued to be rude. We left, my husband and I in shock. We discussed this incident and decided to return everything and to pick a different local business to highlight and support. I go back the next day with 2 of my children as we were on our way to a movie to return all the items at a time when they weren’t busy he made it very clear that the evenings were too much for him. I made the mistake of not bringing my husband with me. He refused to refund my purchase and began yelling at me in front of my children. He eventually did refund my purchase by writing a check which meant I was stuck there until the whole thing was over… all while continuing to yell at me. The vitriol coming out of his mouth was astonishing. For example making fun of me for being a working mother….. you name it. I am still in utter disbelief and shock about what happened. My children have never seen anyone behave this way or treat me this way. My children left in tears and so did I. I wouldn’t have gone in with them had I known the owner was a lunatic!! I posted about this incident on a local FB page and am appalled at how many other women are coming forward with statements about this guy. How can he do business this way… and continue to be in business?! Just wow!!!
Great wine. Made some new friends. Rich and his partner don't remember his name. We shared a bottle of Cab. Franc.
Such a gem! If your in sequim, WA area you've got to stop by this place. Award winning wines and some nights there's live music. Great atmosphere and fun people.
A great spot to grab some locally made wine and a bite to eat while enjoying one on the many excellent live events hosted at Wind Rose. Ps, the Malbec and the Primitivo are always a good choice
Excellent wine! We stopped by not long before closing, but they were happy to accommodate us, even preparing an order of bruschetta. We enjoyed the wine tasting, and liked the wine enough to buy several bottles. We loved talking with the host, and felt very welcome.
I come for the delicious wine but I stay for the amazing staff. Yesteday I visited Wind Rose for their moscato release. Their new moscato was delicious. Even though they were pretty busy the service remained fanastic. I ordered the side of olives and they were simply amazing. The prices of the wine tastings were cheap and their foods are reasonable priced as well. One Saturdays you can get a growler of beer for $10!
Had a nice time here with my better half. The wine was tasty. We did the 10$ wine sampler. There were two lists of 6 wines. They are all hand crafted small batch wines from Washington State vinyards. We are not wine experts and the owner/wine craftsman was more than happy to answer our questions while he personally poured our wine samples. There is also a good selection of affordable and appealing appetizers to pair with your wine. Our favorite wine was the orange muscat. I highly recommend stopping in to try their wine assortment.
This review is not about the wine, The wine is very good, I actually took home 4 bottles, even thou the person serving us seemed to be bothered by me... I was invited to join a group that had just entered the tasting room, the person working seemed annoyed that I said yes, he was friendly with the group but did not seem to want to engage with me. When it came time to buy the wine I was the only one in our group to purchase wine and he seemed like it was a bother to give me a discount on the 4 bottles even thou there was a tasting room discount and he was trying to move bottles, I would have bought more but felt not great about the situation and almost regretted my decision. Thank goodness the people I met, made the experience fun. Great wine not so great service, maybe just an off day
This review is not based necessarily on the wine but more on the service. The owner first helped us with our tasting and was very pleasant to work with. The wines were definitely more light bodied if that is your style but all in all good wines. At the very end of our tasting another employee took over. She never served us any of our tastings just took our card to pay the bill. We only did one tasting. My husband paid and we left. A few minutes later we realized the employee did not give us our card back. When I returned instead of apologizing she said,” well just so you know your husband did not tip so I feel like this is karma.” I could not believe how rude she was. If I was the owner I would have been appalled.
