We were surprisingly pleased with this park. We knew it was on a main road across from the fairgrounds in Harrison. We also knew the fair was going on but still booked for one night on our way to our main destination. Although there was some noise from the fair, it wasn’t bad at all. The park was clean with beautiful new bathrooms and a very friendly staff. We did not swim in the lake but walked down to the swim area. It looked very clean and inviting. There was an area that had a basketball court, volleyball net, corn hole and ladder ball. The best part was they had all of the balls and equipment available for campers to use. It was right there without having to go check it out somewhere. We would come back to this park for sure. It was small but a great place to call hime for a night or weekend.
Wonderful campground, busy on the weekends and beautifully quiet during the week. Mosquitos are here but they don't seem to be vicious and I usually get dive bombed by them.
Great campground. Beach is very well groomed. Since moving to Midland, it's been our #1 spot to head to. Playground: This is such a great area, kids spend hours there. Basketball courts, built in ladder ball. Corn hole boards, horse shoes, beach volleyball Restrooms: Showers are very spacious. Needs possible a bit more ventilation. Dog-friendliness: Great grassiness areas and dog water drinking fountains. And free doggie bag stations.
Decent getaway from home. If you don't mind the sounds of the highway and sirens, it's a great place to stay. Most of the sites are quite large, wide and deep ones. The campground is in the process of building another water and dump station, presently, there's only one. There's a nice beach area and a few amenities for handicap people. There are no trails or anything really scenic. There are yard games available, like basketball, yard checkers, horseshoes, and connect four.
Nice park. Roomy camp sites and yes..there are trees which I love and need. We set up 2 tents one our site. They also have a beach and pavilion. I stop here at least once a year. Newer clean showers also. . Little noisey being closer to road.
I have always loved this park. Spent Memorial weekend there. They remodeled the bathrooms, which are very nice. The only con I have is the Dyson hand dryers are not that great. They blow cold air and are so high off the floor that my hands are are almost my shoulder height to dry, but that's not quite a big deal.
Stayed there overnight to break up a long drive. The facilities were clean and the staff were friendly. It's a campground with a lake. No adjoining hiking or biking trails. Two sides of the park are boarded by roads with a fair amount of traffic. I had two locals drive in and ask a bunch of questions. They seem to have access to use the bathrooms and showers. One pulled into my lot and got out of his vehicle to talk. A bit uncomfortable when you're traveling alone and there didn't appear to be any staff at the park overnight. I'm sure the park serves a great service to the community. Just not a destination park with all the other great parks in Michigan.
I took my family here after not camping in 10 years. There is very big double standards by the staff. Other campers complained about my bf using his medicinal marijuana. So someone spoke to him, no biggie he complied. Two days later he was approached and HADN’T even been smoking on property by an officer who stated we could leave, he could go to jail or he could hand over all his medicinal. He handed it over and the officer said he would dispose of it. Smoking in public is against the law, he knew that but assumed since we rented the spot it would be ok to smoke in a stationary car or the tent. No biggie but threatening to take someone to jail over a civil infraction is a tad out of line. The camp ground wasn’t concerned about the barking dogs, unruly children or loud drunks until 4 am, but God forbid someone try to consume their medicine. But bathrooms and showers are nice
Love staying here traffic and All! Wish it was full hookup or water at least but the beach is great, we walk everywhere since it's super convenient to town. The bathrooms are usually clean and the campsites shaded and somewhat private.
My family has camped here the past two summer's. There are some really big lots and some rather small lots, so be sure if you are reserving a lot that you have one that will fit your camper. There are no lot on the beach, but there are some that overlook Budd Lake. There are two reasons that I do not give five stars: 1. The beach area is very small. If the campground is busy, there can be trouble finding a place on the beach to claim for your things. This this amplified if a group or organization has rented out the pavilion for a party. 2. The bathroom and shower buildings are very dated. The shower facilities do not offer a lot of privacy either. It is a nice campground with great fishing in Budd Lake for the kids. Also be aware that there are a number of lots that border the main road through town, so if noisy cars and trucks bother you, keep this in mind.
