Wilfrid Laurier University

The community, atmosphere, culture, opportunities, and learning environment at Laurier is simply unmatched. The professors genuinely care about your success and you quickly get to know them on a first name basis. The recent one-star reviews are due to an isolated and trivial incident that has generated unwarranted vitriol towards innocent students, staff, admin, etc. They are also posted by individuals who have never attended the university campus.

No free thinking allowed, accept their view or be ostracized. Opinions that challenge the status quo cannot even be debated or even brought forth in this schools Orwellian atmosphere. My heart weeps for the future of the world if ideas are to be suppressed if this so called place of learning is an example of what is to come.

I studied faith and earned two degrees at this university. I was attacked on the campus and had difficulty being treated with respect about it. This makes me sad, it is where I got my MA. I recently went to a symposium on the campus relevant to my field of study and it was great, so I wish the school would do something appropriate about the unfairness that I had experienced, it was hell for me. More talk about it is not what I need, I already experienced far too much badgering and denigration when trying to heal the situation.

I find it terribly hypocritical how reviewers here are complaining about the university being unjust..... while deliberately trashing the school's rating on Google Maps....... I find it terribly hypocritical how reviewers here are vehemently rebuking the university for [X] reason...... when most have personally never been to this school......... I seriously question the validity of these recent one-star reviews, and whether these bold claims are justified. I am sure that "teachers display bullying tactics" isn't the case for the majority. Most of these reviews (arguments) demonstrate a wide range of fallacies that are not limited to: - Fallacy of the single cause - Hasty generalization - Relativist fallacy - Hyperbolic fallacy - Correlation does not imply causation - Fallacy of Insufficient Evidence Not only is the low rating misrepresentative of the school as a whole, but the bold claims provided by most 'reviews' are simply not true and can be easily deduced using the aforementioned fallacies. That is not to say that Lindsay Shepherd's case isn't a valid reason, but using this case to solely declare the university as "bad" isn't enough evidence. I rest my case.

Lindsay Shepherd is right, and whatever snowflake who complained -- along with the thick-skulled losers she was recording speaking too who work for the school -- are objectively, measurably wrong. Doesn't sound like a university with much going for it. Least of all on the administrative side. Not a lot of brains working for the university. Presenting viewpoints seen as "dissenting" without bias is important to understanding a debate and how other viewpoints can form different opinions. Avoid going here at all costs. You WILL leave a more stupid person. Waste of tuition $.
