Not surprised that there are some negative reviews here. I had a great time but I can understand why. We all know what it's like. I took a dump the size of a full grown sturgeon in the parking lot one time. It had something to do with my lunch previously and some new medication I had been trying out. I'm pretty sure it was in a secretive enough area, so the roaches and maggots likely got to it before landscaping did. From my perspective, the school was good. I get it though. 5 stars.
I love Laurier!!! It is a fantastic university. It set me up incredibly for my post graduate studies, and provided me with ample opportunities to grow my resume and develop vital skills for real life. I was able to maintain a great GPA, allowing me to graduate early and head into a professional school, while also granting me a degree BSc for the credits I completed. This school sets you up perfectly - at least in the health science program and entering the medical field afterwards. I love Laurier, and I am forever grateful for everything it has provided me!
This university is not really serious. They take a lot of money and basically ask you to write essays based on books, don't provide feedback and give you a diploma. Honestly, I paid $14,000 for a graduate diploma and did not learn anything. Sad. I was expecting more, a lot more
UPDATE: Three years outta school, 25yo, I work landscape construction as a foreman full time and shoot weddings on the side. Make 80K+ from construction alone, plus photography income, can support my stay at home wife and 1 year old comfortably. My degree contributes NOTHING to either of these incomes. Just experience in each industry and being a reliable employee. Saying this to encourage anyone who thinks university is the only route they have to success.nnORIGINAL POST:nnI graduated from Laurier Brantford with a degree in criminology. It was probably the worst investment I've ever made. The only reason I put two stars here is because of a select few profs who are genuinely passionate about what they teach, Carlos Torres, lookin at you but the rest of what the school offers is trash. I'm not sure if my sentiments are unique to Laurier or just universities in general, but I do not recommend attending here. It seemed like half the classes were profs showing us YouTube videos or documentaries, which was hilariously ironic to me, as the profs were essentially highlighting the fact knowingly or not that their positions, as well as the entire university model are being made obsolete by the evolution of the internet and the multitude of FREE information and tutorials available to anyone there. I bought a camera in first year, watched YouTube videos to learn photography and editing, and started a side business that has been a thousand times better investment than my tuition, both monetarily and general enjoyment. Invest in yourself, learn skills online, don't waste 30 grand on a useless degree from a crumbling institution. I want a refund.
Twice the Laurier Womens rugby team has come to the same restaurant and tipped less than 2% making us servers pay out of pocket for their team meal
