Cool little 170 foot hike up to these Horse Monuments. Have always driven by but never stopped. Wear some shoes with traction because it can get a little slick. Great views of the Columbia.
It is so cool to climb the mountain to see the wild horses. And it is very good place to see Columbia River too! I feel hiking shoes are very necessary, especially when you go down.
After passing by several times we finally stopped. The views are amazing. No facilities and a short quite steep hike up to the horses. Too bad they have to become victims of graffiti. Overall a neat break from driving.
Great view of the Columbia River. Takes just minutes to walk up the incline to the ridge. Use caution coming down there are loose rocks. Each horse has been tagged or signed by people visiting. I find it intriguing who has come and gone. Take a moment and just listen to the wind with your eyes closed. You can almost hear the history.
Very beautiful artwork that was started and never able to be finished due to funding falling through. Fairly short but slightly steep walk to the top. No bathrooms on site. Well worth the visit!
Very cool steel sculptures by artist David Govedare close to the small town of Vantage. The backdrop of the Columbia river is pretty impressive.
If you’re driving on I90 East a little past Vantage after you cross that beautiful bridge over the Columbia River you’ll run into this look out area.. Don’t worry if you miss it on the way there just make sure you stop by on the way back this way you can check out both look out areas. Nice parking with a great view of the Columbia River and surroundings. If you plan to hike to the top of the mountain to see the horse make sure you wear the appropriate shoes because it is a short steep hike. The view at the top is rewarding!
Cool spot. If you plan to hike to the top of the mountain to see the horses close. I suggest trekking poles for coming back down. The hill is steep. The dirt and rocks are super loose and soft. Make sure you're leaning back as you're coming down to avoid falling forward. The hike up is definitely worth it. The horses are awesome. The view is amazing. Sad to see so many of the horses had spray paint on them. Still cool. Just unfortunate. Kids thought it was cool. They did the hike just fine. Even wearing not the greatest shoes as this was a spontaneous stop. No services at parking lot.
Love climbing up & seeing the sights!! The hike is steep but I'm not athletic... AT ALL and yet I have done this treck 3 times now haha YOU CAN DO IT!! Its like ripping off a bandaid, its quick but painful
I've always enjoyed seeing the horses from afar and enjoyed finally being able to make the stop to hike up to see the horses up close. We just hopped out of the car wearing our flip flops and slides, which aren't ideal footwear for climbing hillsides with loose rock, but hey, it only took about 12 min to make the hike and it was a great vantage to see lots of cool views. Lost a star because there are no identifying plaques giving credit and information, even though it appears there were some at one point.
