We had a super adventure fishing as two families with teenage kids at the Wheeler River Lodge. There are so many lakes and the river system to explore up at Wheeler. While fishing off the dock and in the river system right outside the lodge is great, Kevin and Cheryl have additional boats parked at lakes you would never be able to access just short traverses away. We caught fish that I'm sure have never seen boats or lures before. Lodgings are clean and well-appointed. Bring your favorite sides and fixings, and Kevin will cook up a terrific shore lunch. We all loved our adventure in the Canadian north!
This was my 4th visit to this excellent northern fishing/hunting camp. Kevin and Cheryl clearly love this place and welcome each visitor who comes to enjoy the fantastic and varied fishing and other adventures. Wheeler River Lodge is a wonderful place to enjoy the peaceful solitude of the north, hear the beautiful call of the loon, see the unique landscapes and plants that abound. You may also be lucky enough to glimpse some of the wildlife that roam in the area. The taste of a fish cooked to perfection over an open fire in one of Kevin’s shore lunches cannot be replicated in the best restaurant back home.
I spent 5 days in June this year at Wheeler. The guiding, equipment, variety of water systems, and accommodations were all top notch. Our group caught literally hundreds of fish in 5 days and ate some of them on shore for an amazing lunch. Kevin and Cheryl are amazing hosts and I look forward to returning.
As a complete novice, the trip I joined in 2017 couldn't have been more perfect! From the fishing success, to the time spent in peaceful harmony with Mother Nature, the wildlife, the accommodations, Cheryl and Kevin our hosts and now new friends!...it was all very much a dream come true! Thank you Kevin and Cheryl. This is a trip I will never forget, and happily recommend it to anyone fortunate enough to visit Wheeler River Lodge. You won't regret it!
I've been to Wheeler River five or six times now, usually with my sons & some friends. It simply never disappoints. Cheryl & Kevin owners always make sure our trip is flawless. From the top notch equipment, to the accomodations, to the scenery, to the peace & quiet..it's all fantastic! Oh ya....the fishing is exactly what you would expect of northern Saskatchewan.
Great place. Nice people.
My two brothers and I enjoyed a fantastic experience in June 2012 at the Lodge. We hunted for black bear, and each of us harvested a bear. Two black bears, and one cinnamon bear. As it happened, we all got our bears on the same day! Two bears were harvested with rifle, and one from a tree stand with archery. That left us with plenty of time to fish for lake trout and walleye. We had a great time and were very impressed with how our hosts ran their camp. We have not had an opportunity to return, but would encourage anyone with an interest to enjoy this very special hunting and fishing experience.
This will be my 25th year fishing @ The Wheeler 2021. 1991 was my first trip to the Wheeler , it was the 2nd year that the camp was open . The Rowswells took over in1996 & it has got nothing but better. It is a little piece of heaven on earth. Fishing is excellent, Kevin, Cheryl & Quinn take your every need . I have been to the Wheeler River a few times and it is top notch fishing, their amenities provide all the essentials, plus Kevin and Cheryl are the best people you could hope to work with. Down to earth good folks. Definitely on my list to visit them again soon.
Absolutely wonderful trip! Kevin and Cheryl were awesome hosts, and effortlessly tailored the experience for our group. Definitely want to do another Weeler River trip soon! Highly recommend!
