Very racist university. Lots and lots of KKK incidents and many marks of “KKK”. I am as an Asian but lived in this town for many years, I was supposed to be join as regular local students. They insisted ask me for all the documents like “marriage certificate”, “house Deed” “Car purchase proof”, “my visa”, my LLC proof which none or those 19 year old local students have. They wanted to take all of my money because I am not white so they can put me as “international student”. That’ll cost me x3+ tuition. They did not even say a reason why I won’t be admitted as a local after I submitted all the documents they requested and every single of the documents proof I had this state residency. AWFUL racist university so as most of those students and the regiments in this small town. DO NOT go here, if you are diverse person. It’ll keep your world so tiny and closed. And weather is terrible. 300 days a year is either raining/snowing and or overcast. You’ll be sick.
We visited here without any preconceived notions and were totally blown away. The setting is absolutely stunning, with public art throughout the campus. The grounds are beautifully maintained and they even have a rose garden without rival. We talked to dozens of students who report receiving a quality education at reasonable tuition and fees. Western is now atop our list.
Despite the ups and downs I had here and with the school in general, I don't regret coming here for the three years I attended. I graduated last year in winter and I don't think I would have changed anything for the world. I got a decent degree on a beautiful, cozy campus, and the staff did everything in their power so I could afford the place for the entire time. The professors are great, and I've even made a lifelong friend out of one of them. Perhaps one day I will return, but that day, that time, is not now. For now, goodbye Western. Thank you for everything.
A fabulous university and one of the leaders in graduate programs nation wide. You will fall in love with the campus but be proud of the education you receive. As an alumni, who went on to receive a doctorate, I am proud to be a WWU Viking.
Consistently not accessible. They have a small amount of parking that is next to impossible to get a parking pass so you’d have to pay by the hour. Their solution to this is to take the bus, but that is only reasonable when you live near campus, otherwise it will take several hours to commute. They don’t have many if any hybrid or online options for classes. They don’t feed their students living on campus unless they get called out online. There aren’t really any good opportunities for students here. Overall be expected to get screwed out of your own education that you have to pay through the nose for anyways.
