My mother had to go through epiretinal membrane removal surgery. She was very nervous and concerned due to the complexity of the procedure and the risk associated with it. Dr. Albiani had been incredibly patient, diligent and performed the surgery perfectly while keeping my mother’s emotional stress in check. The surgery was very successful, the clinic continued to monitor her condition diligently to ensure proper recovery. Dr. Albiani and the clinic is highly professional with great ethics.
This place is very old. It does not give out healthy vibes in first sight, no one expects good things to come out of a place looking like this. On top of this, expect very bad scheduling. They give out appointments to everyone at the same time and you will have to wait 2h+ because they lack basic scheduling skills on their part to see the doctor for < 5 minutes.
Very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly staff. They treated my retinal detachment and I probably had all the surgeries you can think of to treat it. I've met all the doctors there and they have been extremely knowledgeable and supportive. There have been times the office is really busy, but that's expected from the best retina specialist in BC.
I have been receiving treatment here for a few years now, I cannot believe the 2 reviews posted prior to mine. Yes you may have to wait on occasion but usually appointments are on time, how many medical appointments anywhere are ever on time?. Depending on what your appointment is you may have to go to different rooms for various steps in your treatment. The staff are professional and courteous, yes, there may be 1 or 2 staff who's first language is not English, but they speak English adequately well and do a good job as language skills should not be an indicator of work skills. One of the prior reviews seemed a bit bigoted.
Super efficient clinic. I got my eye scans from very professional and friendly technicians, saw Dr. Albiani all without a long wait. To my wonder, the doctor was able to complete my laser surgery within the same day without needing to book another appointment. Thanks!
When first told I would need to be seen at this clinic, I read some of the reviews and was a little panicked, nearly want to go elsewhere. I went to the appointment and was extremely surprised that the reviews, those that were negative we in left field. I have never had more professional care, been treated with courtesy and respect that at this clinic. Dr. Kirker has virtually reversed the DME that I am dealing with, and frankly I could NOT IMAGINE going ANYWHERE ELSE, that to this clinic, the people are great, they try to keep appointments on time. If you are delayed it is minimal, and I must say, if I get delayed due to the man having to deal with an emergency GREAT, because if I need emergency treatment one day I know he will be there. GREAT PLACE,
I am a patient of Dr. Andrew Kirker he is extremely professional and has looked after me very well. The staff are friendly efficient and are very professional. They were well chosen. Mary who is part of the surgical team has unparalleled attention to detail, and is very articulate in explaining things, in addition, she went over everything that would be involved in the surgical procedure and made me feel very comfortable and confident that I'd be well looked after. This country is blessed to have such an efficient cordial and professional group of people all working at the West Coast Retina Consultancy Agency. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience, Kindest regards, Fredrick Fowler.
Very professional. I tore my retenia while traveling in Cambodia, flow home right of way and they saw me as soon as I got off the plane. All of the doctors were great and reassuring during the many appointments. Will recommend them to anyone that may need their service.
The experience I have had to endure going here has ceated some seriousd disappointment in their level oare. The scheduled appointments are never accurate. The clientelle and the nursing staff appeart to me to be non Canadian citizens whoi cannot speak english. I have went for treatment only to sit and wait hours to get in to a 0ne 1 minute of consultation. Theend result is thaty I am now blind with no thanks from the students The doctors at this clinic seem to rely on for people in my6 earnings bracket. The end result of these dctors attempting to treat my eyesight problem with zero improvement and no light to look forward to. I had a procedure done at vgh by this doctor. My appointment was 945. I fimally got into the room at 130o. I was finally able to leave at close to 5 pm. The surgeon never spoke to me and the follow up info was not given to me prior to leaving. I am confused and cannot get a straight answer. This clinic has me tied to it and I have no other options to access for.I was given no pain killers and no eye drops. I do not know when to goo for a follow up. This entire eyesight ordeal has caused me to lose any form of faith on any one opf the doctors working there. The doctors are there but they rely on students to fix persons in my wage bracket and expect these unskilled children access to my eyes. I rate this office a 1 out of 10 on satisfaction. If there was another doctors doing this type of care I would gop there long before I ever set foo0t i Dr Albianni ,Dr. Kirker and this other person I think is a stu8dent. You or I have to accept sub standard treatment from under qualified students.. I have been screwed if you ask me. I will noit ever set foot in their office again. Go to the USA and find a doctor that actually makes sure their trainees are just that trained and supervised. If not in America I could file a malpractice suit but being in Canada and having universal healthycare does not allow liability suits for incompetence and criminal neglect. I never got a followup appointment time. The location O am being sent to is not open on Saturday and I will have top wait outside in the rain for the doctor that cut my eye to meet me. Historically these doctors appointments are two to three hours before I even see the doctor. I will have to wait outside in the weather for who knows?
This place is really difficult to work with. It takes six months to get an appointment. Then, when you need a six-month follow up appointment, they won't book it for you then. You have to call back in six months. And if you miss the window at all, you have to go back to your GP to get another referral. They also will not refer you to another office if you are moving out of town. It's completely ridiculous. My previous retina doctor in Saskatoon was not like this at all.
