Story

Westchester Exceptional Children's School (WEC) is a year round, NY state approved special education day facility located in North Salem NY. We serve individuals with autism and multiple handicaps as well as children who are medically fragile. In addition to serving Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess and Orange counties, we also support the Mid-Hudson area, New York City and Fairfield County, CT.
All our faculty members are passionate about education. When you combine our team’s collective enthusiasm with expert special-needs skills, students succeed in reaching their full potential – academically, socially and emotionally.

Mission

Westchester Exceptional Children's School is a not for profit, tax-exempt/501(c)(3) school, located in North Salem, NY, serving students from 36 school districts and nine counties in NY, CT and NYC.

Our focus is on meeting the educational, social and emotional need of students with autism, medically fragile children, and students with communication and behavior disorders.

Our educational mission establishes that each child, no matter how handicapped, is a valuable individual capable of high achievement and worthy of society's best efforts.

We are committed to identifying and meeting the diverse needs of each student through individualized educational programming. It is out mission to work cooperatively with families, students, the community, colleagues, and other professionals in order to promote each student’s success and well being as he/she prepares for future endeavors.
