Both my kids have had the most amazing experience at Westboro Academy - from Kindergarten right to Grade 8. They have been challenged academically and blossomed socially, all in a supportive community of wonderful friends, teachers and school administrators. Thank you, Académie Westboro Academy, for offering such a strong foundation for the children's academics and for life!
Westboro has been a very good option for our kids. Small class sizes and a good community feel to the school make us all feel at home. The teaching staff does a good job balancing the demanding academic requirements with the importance of being good student citizens. It is important to us that our children share a classroom with other students whose families prioritize their education so highly.
Part of the reason we live in our neighbourhood is the public grade-school down the street. But when our first child was ready to start junior kindergarten, that school only offered half-days. So we enrolled our daughter at Westboro Academy. It had a great reputation, and we had friends whose children were thriving there. Our intention, however, was to move to our local public school for grade one. Fast forward eight years, and we now have three children at Westboro. Like our friends' children, ours are thriving at the school. They are enthusiastically learning about math, science, social studies, and the arts, all in a bilingual environment. But they are also learning how to be a supportive friend, a reliable neighbour, a responsible citizen, in short, a good person. And they are incredibly happy in the process. We have friends who, for various reasons over the years, have taken their children out of Westboro. Most have promptly returned; those that have not, because they cannot, miss the school terribly. Hearing about their experiences has made us appreciate what we have in Westboro all the more. It truly is a great school.
Our family two children has been with Westboro Academy for nearly a decade. We originally chose Westboro Academy over public school after much debate and uncertainty. We are very glad we did! We would highly recommend the school to parents who value academics, community and personal growth. Our daughters are fully bilingual and this is truly the result of the environment Westboro's teachers and staff provide. After graduating from grade 8, our eldest has seamlessly moved on to public high school with no difficulties, and has incorporated both strong study and school habits, and also a strong sense of social responsibility and moral values. We have nothing but the highest recommendation for Westboro Academy for JK-Grade 8 if you are seeking a truly bilingual school that fosters both academic and personal growth as foundation values.
Fantastic school! The quality of the education students receive is top-notch. While the bilingual nature of the school is what initially drew us to it, this aspect soon became but one of Westboro Academy's many advantages. Everything from the teaching and adminitrative staff to the educational materials used through the community of peers students get to interact with is excellent. French teachers are truly francophone, which in my eyes, makes a huge difference in the quality of the French education the students receive. A new Head of School and a new Director of Academics this year have brought enthusiasm and energy and have already made notable positive contributions to the school. Westboro Academy has a true community feel and is a warm, caring environment for children to be inspired and thrive in. As a parent, I could not be more pleased.
We wholeheartedly recommend Westboro Academy. It’s a school that balances a strong academic curriculum with a nurturing environment. One of the school’s core strengths is its ability to create a truly bilingual environment. They accomplish this with excellent Francophone and Anglophone teaching staff and an emphasis on curriculum from both Ontario and Quebec. The teachers and administrative staff are also very invested in the students’ social development; they maintain a good rapport with parents which leads to a wonderful community feel. The students benefit from small class sizes, engaged parents, and an emphasis on developing their sense of responsibility and work ethic. My kids love going to school at Westboro!
My child has attended Westboro Academy for over a year now. We feel relieved to know that our child will be attending another school next year. Westboro Academy is plagued with severe disorganization – they cannot even send out a simple communication email to advise parents of activities without having to recall and send out an email on the same subject at least twice. I have seen first hand that some of the teachers at the school show favoritism or are simply far too out of date, and will do a great job at teaching your children how school rules only apply to certain children and not to others. In addition, the way they evaluate the academics in the school is extremely subjective, so there’s really no way for you to know the true quality of the education that they will receive. My child has learned very little at the school; however, I hear about TV time at school a lot! My child learned more in a few months at her amazing daycare then she did in a full year at Westboro Academy. The school will also soon be moving very far from their current location and into the suburbs of Ottawa and a very large percentage of the population has decided not to follow them; therefore the school may not even exist in a few years from now due to poor enrolment levels.
Great school. We are very happy with it. Even though we are an anglophone family, our child quickly became fluent in French thanks to Westboro. We really like the fact that it is a small school with dedicated teachers and staff. We wish it went beyond Grade 8!
I went to Westboro for all of elementary school and though I left 10 years ago, I can still tell that the quality of education I received prepared me for the rest of my academic career. Nearly all the Westboro graduates that I am still in contact with are in academia and I think our love for learning really started here.
This school maintains a COVID vaccine mandate for students when no other place does anymore. Buyer beware.
