This is an astalgic 1950's diner and restaurant with a 2-story very cute gift shop. The owner was a long time employee who wanted to carry on the diner's history and family traditions. Very friendly staff and informative about the area and upper peninsula. Food was great and bakery fresh homemade. We treated ourselves to the "huge" stores and chocolate chip cookies. Parking: Parking right out front.
An incredibly fun old-style diner with a lot of local Upper Peninsulan breakfast fare. The quality, speed, kindness and environment made this stop incredibly worth it, and we’ll undoubtedly be back again. If there’s room, try to sit in the front room to get the best setting.
Cutest little place we've found on our trip! Amazing food too! Theres so much to look at. We heard every table talking about how good their food was and how much they loved the atmosphere of this place. Well done!
We were dearly disappointed that we were too early for the Spring 2022 season when we came by for breakfast from 27 miles away. However, the gift shop owner & manager of the diner popped out to give us advice on getting breakfast and the scenic destinations nearby. She’s charming, knowledgeable, and super friendly. We’ll come back around in season, for sure! from Cincinnati, OH.
Great little family run restaurant and gift shop, the front of which is a 40's-50's style steel trolly car. All day breakfast, lunch and bakery items. The gift shop opens up into the 2nd floor, which is packed wall to wall with books, plushies, syrups, stickers, art, and all manner of gifts and collectibles. Clean comfortable bathrooms. Parking in the rear leads to a short ramp. Say yes to ~gravy~.
The food was good the apple pie was delicious. The ladies working there were as friendly and professional as you could ask for. The whole restaurant has such a great look and feel.
We dined here three times in three days and we could feel the love from everyone who works here. Many places say just like home. This places let's you feel like home
This 1950s diner is fantastic! New owners, and they have done a remarkable job. The shopping selections are very fun, and the food was fantastic. Plus, the entire staff is super warm and friendly. We had so much fun when we went here for breakfast that after we went hiking we returned for a late lunch. I cannot say enough good about our experience at this restaurant and how much we love the food. Highly recommend!
We found this cafe through a Google map search and are glad we did! We walked in pretty late in the day with high hopes for dinner. Although the grill had been turned off, the owner offered us a variety of other options with insistence that it was no trouble. We browse the upstairs gift shop and were thrilled to find lots of handmade and local crafts. Although it's a deli/cafe, the atmosphere was homey and cozy. It felt like we were welcomed into her home. She even called "Dinner's ready" up the stairs when we were shopping. My husband and I both had delicious pasties with the smooth, rich gravy. We had already seen the dessert case, so we knew we'd take home sweets best apple fritters I've had but couldn't resist having ice cream with best company - her family, and her mom's golden retriever relaxing in the back yard. The food was superb, the atmosphere was comfortable and we can't wait to return.
Great food and even better service in a unique restaurant. The front is a retro 1940's diner complete with turquoise swivel stools.
