We always stop here when we are in Wellington - our daughter loves the wooden playground and could play here for hours. It also offers a beautiful view of the water.
Great views of Lake Ontario. Quite a lot of picnic benches with well maintained restrooms. Good spot for some good pictures. Coolest spot when the weather is hot. You'll understand this once you get there.
Today was our big bike trip on the Millennium Trail in Prince Edward County. We looked for hours online to find out where we could go to a free beach for a swim. No luck.nToday we drove over 2 hours to get down there. We parked in Bloomfield at the tennis courts. There were picnic tables there and washrooms but the washrooms were locked!!nWe biked the trail to Wellington in the heat. Thank goodness for the breeze! I just happened to bump into an old friend on the trail. He was just finishing his bike trip to Picton and back and told me he was heading to the lake for a swim. He knew of a free beach!!nIt was Wellington Park right beside the United Church and across the road from St. Andrews Anglican Church. It was a very busy town but we found it easily.nThere are public washrooms!nWe walked down to the water. There was a steep set of stairs down the breaker wall. There was a fairly wide ledge at the water's edge, large enough to put a lawn chair out and still walk by.nThere is no beach sand. It is all made up of rock ledges or a mixture of small, medium and large rocks. You can pick your way out into the lake but be careful... some of the rock ledges are extremely slippery.nWe didn't go out too deeply since it was windy and wavy. I just sat on one of the ledges and let the waves wash over me. It was so refreshing, especially after a brisk 20km bike ride in the 30 degree heat. The water was just cool enough and extremely clean!nI will have no issue with doing this again.nThis was the refreshing haven that we were looking for but was not to be found anywhere online!! We were so thankful!nNOTE: There is a donation box at the entrance of the park. USE IT!
A nice park with a large playground and a beautiful view!
Very cute well built playground in a cute park by the lake.nnPicnic tables were many, and there was a note about free concerts in the park.nnIt’s supported by the lions club and you can see the effort and car put into the grounds.nnThere is a donation bucket at the front and we were happy to support. Our kids loved running around and playing.nnNext time we are in town we will pack a picnic or grab takeout from midtown brewery pizza, burgers or La Condesa Tacos
