We all had a good meal. Really liked the Welcome Inn Chicken, delicious and perfect for a Keto Lifestyler, plus allowed sub of steamed veggies instead of potato!! Average prices and big portions. Very friendly, attentive service. But.... The salad bar had lettuce that had seen better days! Ain't NO reason for that!!! I would have been extremely upset if the salad bar had not been included with my meal and I'd paid the upcharge to add it. Soup was good though, and it offered a pasta salad, cottage cheese, cole slaw options, plus carrots, celery with lil cheese or dip cups.
Welcome Inn has delicious food. They have a wonderful salad bar which includes homemade soups. The prices are very reasonable. The service is good. They have a full bar too. If you are driving through or in Elizabeth, it's a good place to stop.
Friendly service and fabulous food! I had the pork tenderloin, and not only was it one of the best I've ever eaten, there was easily enough meat for two sandwiches, at least. The homemade fries, while they didn't look the greatest, tasted really great! It was a wonderful meal. The price was only a few dollars more than we'd have spent at McDonald's.
My wife, Son, his Girlfriend, and myself dined their tonight for the first time. Our Server was great, the soda and refills were always at our table, the salad bar had many choices. My Son and Wife had Prime Rib, Melody had the Ham Steak, I had the Greak Pork Chops, and we all shared a Blooming Onion. All of the different foods we had this evening were great! The seating and atmosphere was very good and the booths had plenty of room. The food was prepared and brought to our table in a decent amount of time and the prices were good. We highly recommend this establishment!
This is the place I return to when visiting the Galena area. How aptly named "Welcome " is for this established local destination where a stranger, new face or passer-by can share the atmosphere of the locals, many who make the place a favorite option. The food is Midwest. Good meats, sides, solid salad options at a salad bar where they belong - to craft ones own version of a salad. Yeah . During quieter times people will include anyone who jumps in on topic and you are welcomed to do so. The prices are reasonable so you might have the impulse to tip well the great wait staff who may be a student, retiree or a relative of the owner.
Good lunch in a charming old building
Al and his wife provide a welcoming establishment. No pun intended. The steak sandwich and salad bar is always my go to. They also have a great Italian beef sandwich at lunch. If you're on your way home from Galena, this is a fantastic stop just a few minutes on Highway 20.
We had beef stew this evening at the Welcome Inn in Elizabeth, Il. It was fabulous!! The food beef stew, salad bar and rice pudding, whipped cream and cinnamon, was excellent, as was the service and friendly atmosphere! Al's a very good cook, and keeps the menu fresh and somewhat unusual! Thanks to Al and staff for a memorable meal with leftovers for our lunches tomorrow! Len and Shirley Brokaw
Surprisingly good, friendly staff, huge dining room, soup and salad bar....what else can u say. Ate dinner here on the way home from Galena. Macedonian chicken was awseome. Mediterranean chicken also delicious. Lots of specials. Really good find. Huge portions.
During my visit to Elizabeth IL this weekend. I wanted to visit some of the local restaurants and this restaurant had a lot of great about it. During my visit to this restaurant I experienced which I feel was and races Act. I am a black male and I entered the restaurant with a white female. The waitress asked us if we would like to die in here and we said yes. She got it us to the back of the restaurant and walked pass for empty tables that were seated for two. She suited us close to the wall where our backs were turned and away from everyone else. I told her that the seating was very uncomfortable and I was wondering if we could be moved. She told me that there was no more seats available. I asked her if the four tables that we walked by or reserved for anyone. She bypassed the question and asked if we were ready to order. I asked her again what is wrong with the four tables that is in front of us. She said well this is the best seat we could give. I said well we would like to be moved please. She got it us to the table that was closest to the front. Then slam down our menu and walked away. I noticed she changed waitresses and had someone else come with our table. I'll just like to know why was it such a big problem that I ask for a different table and why did she feel uncomfortable serving this?
