Way too underfunded to be of any real help. Was constantly at odds with nursing staff to give us even the bare minimum of care and respect. Was yelled at by a nurse who told me I was arrogant and not really sick. all the beds needed at least 3 blankets because it was so cold in there and we had next to no entertainment or clothes. Would not ever recommend. grown adults need more stimulating entertainment than a colouring book
Amazing. I was very sad when I had to leave when Covid shut down but I had a great experience overall with the check in calls & being welcomed to the group when I got there. I ended up being part of the pilot group for the virtual program & I learned so much I will add to my review later but this program really helped me grow & helped save my life. Thanks Waypoint/Georgianwood.
Our health care system is broken, with this hospital being a main example of that. Our dear sister was transferred there, a hour and a half away from home, and it was merely impossible to touch base with her nurse and physician in regards to how to help her. We have dealt with our sister's mental health situation for 10+ years, we know her better than anyone out there. She was discharged today, apparently, with not one of our family members knowing where she went. This is HIGHLY concerning considering how unstable she was entering the hospital 1 week ago and when I spoke with her yesterday she seem very agitated, unstable and manic - behaviour I have seen in the past with my sister which has escalated into crisis situations. Your workers are burnt out and have zero compassion for patients and their family members who are simply trying to help them, evidently. Get in and get out as fast as possible - is the tone at Waypoint. I was a Board Member of CMHA and as we all know, mental health is not so black and white, and loved ones must advocate for their sick family members. The fact that NOT ONE nurse or worker can tell us where my sister is, is utterly disturbing to know how this hospital runs and knows so minimal about mental health and how to properly care for their patients.
Attention Rachel: So sorry to know your sister went missing, very tragic. Are there teams looking for her? What is being done? Back in the mid to late 90's, my parents were retired and living on Quarry Island which is straight to the east and they had a young girl walk in their home. She was 35 and had escaped from the hospital there in Penatag and walked through the night wearing only shoes, socks, track pant & top towards my parents home on the island. She was freezing but alive. My parents called 911 and the penatang hospital to report her escape. My mom gave her a hot shower, she washed her clothes and gave her some hot food. My dad lit up the fireplace and rubbed her cold feet. The girl's name was Heather Zimmerman. Police and hospital people met my dad and Heather later that day on shore via skidoo and took her back to the hospital. I'm 59 now so she must be around the same age. To this day, I think of her often. I'm telling you this because the finger of God was on Heather that night keeping her safe, so please have faith your sister is safe and pray she will be ok. My friend is getting the best treatment compared to what he was getting in Toronto. His family and I are very grateful for the staff and doctors. My friend is looking forward to the future which he never has before. Every time I talk to him he is so positive and is glad where he is. He even goes swimming, wow!! God bless the staff, doctors and clients. Thank you Waypoint for making a difference.
Not even worth 1 star. I had a loved one in there. Staff demean the patients. No proper help from there at all. Shipped off with no follow up care and no file transfer to the doctor. Might be good for a dry out, but definitely not for people with Anxiety, depression or PTSD
A great place for those to get the help they need. There are extensive programs to join during your stay if you WANT to participate. Nurses and staff work diligently together to ensure the best outcome is possible. Very personable staff.
Excellent Staff, Understandable procedures taken, never once felt unsafe and or worried about my well-being. Dr. Lepaige and all of my nurse staff were wonderful ad I owe them the world. Thanks Waypoint.
This person does not belong in private practice. I was treated like a criminal - consistent with his background in Penetang - yes he caused harm.
