As a family, we have been going here for years. What we like is the fact that they close the entrance once it fills up to capacity so it's never majorly crowded. I think it's gone downhill tho. Went on July 4th and we were there really early and the bathrooms were disgusting. The smell could be reached past the bathroom building. They do not monitor people like they use to. I saw lots of drinking, louder than usual music, and smoking. They no longer give trash bags either. We always bring extras but those who do not leave the trash on the grown. The trash that was there was full to capacity with paper signs. I think its time to find another lake for us.
We took the stairway to heaven trail, the hike was fantastic! Be sure to wear a hiking shoe so you won’t hurt your toe while getting back down and carry a stick for good grip! Don’t forget to carry water bottles! You’ll need it! Overall hike is totally worth it it took us about 3 hours to go back and forth for the beautiful view I’ll definitely go back to visit the other trails they have in wawayanda state park.
I loved this place, so calm to enjoy the summer with nature you can even have a bbq, bring your towels, chairs and umbrella, plenty of space to play sports with friends and family. Good for kayaking and volleyball.
Visited Wawayanda Beach. Nice place for family outing in summer. Long trails for who enjoy trails. Public toilet is in pathetic condition. Building is clean but no action to control the smell in rest room. That the one bad thing I faced here.
Took my kids and wife last week. It was fun the scenery is great. We had lunch by a picnic area and took a drive over by the lake to check it out, I will definitely be visiting that lake and I will post pictures when I do. This time we walked some trails and got an idea of where we can walk. Wawayanda is huge so you can’t do it all in a day. The trails were breath taking I took a few pics of it. I had the family with me so I couldn’t really explore the way I would normally want to if I was alone but nonetheless it’s a place to take the family or just go out and hike alone. I’ll post pictures of a boat rental and the lakes in the weeks to come.
Amazing trails. I took a hike with friends along the AT. It was absolutely beautiful. The bridge we made it to was very well maintained.
Great hike, very buggy and difficult climb. I would recommend bug spray as I got bit a few times, but the view is worth it!
A naturally beautiful place for a day break with friends and family. Beautiful lake and beachfront with trails for a serene walk amidst nature. There is something for everyone. Boating, fishing, hiking. Benches all over with barbecue stands for that cosy get together. And yes, remember to get your own food and trash bags.
Beautiful park, but needs some road and trail improvements. Dog-friendliness: Great to walk your puppies but please keep them on their leash.
Originally heading to Stairway to Heaven-but no parking. Walked 2 trails at the park. Well maintained and spacious. Many paths so remember where you left from. Bathrooms were closed. Beautiful and so peaceful.
