Waukesha South High School

My first couple of years started out relatively decent but the administration has quickly become a dictatorship. You will receive detention or suspended for minor things such as being late (which, why would you suspend a teenager for being late and missing class time... so they can miss even more class time?) Instead of focusing on the real problems such as those who sell and do drugs, they would much rather threaten your child who comes from a financially unstable family with a ticket or expulsion despite good standing otherwise. They perform ridiculous "hall sweeps" where they "sweep" kids who are even seconds late to class. They make them go to the auditorium, receive a pass, and go back to class making them miss even more class time than they would have initially. Administration refuses to focus on the real problems and expects respect from the students that attend this school but they can't even treat the students as actual human beings instead of as prisoners. South was originally my favorite out of the high schools but has quickly become one of my least favorite. (West being the least due to the lack of diversity and racial problems.)

Some of the teachers are fine but most of them have boring lessons that don’t make sense to the average student and prevent us from learning. The administration is terrible and the fun students used to have is gone because of the insane dictator like admin, hyper controlling phone policy and constant “hall sweeps” that interrupt the learning of students throughout the building and prevent students who are only minutes late to class from hearing information that is incredibly important to their understanding of the class. That kind of time wasting is unacceptable and constant and should not be present in schools. There are many other issues with the way this school is run that make it a boring and ineffective place to learn and make students like me feel uncomfortable and unsafe in the place we spend the majority of our time awake.

I didn't appreciate this school until I transferred out of it. Coming back for my senior year is a decision I'll never regret. I loved the teachers here. They were open, honest, helpful and I knew they wanted me to be successful. The theatre department is also very open to accepting new people, which made me ecstatic. I got to be a part of productions that rocked my world. All-around a nice school. :)
