Watson Road Elementary

The school is pretty good but there is a problem with a few teachers. There was this teacher who would punish the WHOLE class because of 2 people misbehaving instead of punishing them ONLY. The teacher would also lecture the WHOLE class instead of talking to them privately. That was a waste of time for EVERYONE, EVEN for the people who DIDN'T contribute to the misbehaviour. What was not educational is teaching PRIMARY STUDENTS about LGBTQ. There is nothing bad with that, but it's for the children. The primary kids do NOT fully know who they want to be yet. If you talk about this, they will question who they are, and they might do something that maybe they actually don't want to be. The teaching is good, but the biggest problem are some of the teachers and the principal. Everything else is pretty good.

I go to this school and it is an amazing experience at this school there is an amazing spirit that lifts up the school all of the teachers and staff are wonderful a lot of the other schools are pretty old you should join the Watson road elementary school!

Generally, the school is satisfactory, however we would like to voice our concerns with the way some of the problematic teachers manage their classrooms. We want to emphasize this is not all the teachers, but those who wish to conduct themselves with the below description. Out of respect we will not name names publicly but the parents of students who have this teacher will know of whom we are speaking and how many attempts there have been to have this behaviour stop, without success. Our daughter has come over every day and told us that her teacher yells at them and has continued to not handle conflict in the classroom well. The problem has been with 3 boys in the classroom who have not listened to the teacher's instructions. The result, unfortunately, has been that the teacher yells and screams for them to stop. Privileges have also been revoked from the entire classroom due to only a few who have misbehaved. We have tolerated this for the first semester but only a couple months into the 2nd semester, this is no longer tolerated. There is a clear lack of awareness of how this behaviour affects the other children for whom the discipline and shouting was not intended. We have also witnessed this first-hand on field-trips where we volunteered to come help. It is unacceptable, my child doesn't want to go to school anymore, has such terrible anxiety to the point that she is unable to fall asleep because she is so worried about going to class the next day.

teachers are nice but the new principal sucks. had to change my brothers school because of her.

Amazing school... both my kids love Watson... the staff are incredible and school spirit is high... I feel lucky that my kids are able to attend Watson.... thank you for all that you do :
