Very disappointed in this home. My mom has been living there for some time now. It’s a beautiful building and we loved the set-up and how it feels like home with all the decor, but the food is inedible most of the time so she passes on the meals and asks for half a sandwich most days. They have fish and chips that are too greasy, meat and fruit pies with uncooked crust, sausages and stew with meat too tough to chew…they pour gravy and sauce over most meals. Why? Most of the residents we talk to don’t like the food. Mom is losing weight and it’s maddening with the amount of money it costs to live there.nWe wanted her to enjoy all the activities and she loves crafting but the staff in charge don’t do much for crafts. I see posts on social media of other homes doing fun games but never see any of that going on at the Waterford.
My mother moved to the Waterford in Barrie, and it truly transformed her life. After many years of being on her own, she found new joy in the warm, welcoming environment. The staff and medical team were consistently kind, caring, and always understanding of her needs.nnThrough the various events and classes like art, cooking, poetry, and social hours, she made new friends and rediscovered herself. It was heartwarming to see her so happy and engaged.nnThe Waterford made her final year memorable and enjoyable. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a caring and vibrant community.
My father moved into the Waterford several years ago and passed away recently. Our family is very grateful for the care and support of The Waterford team. Over the years, the staff were consistently very caring and supportive to him. They knew him well and provided care that met his unique needs. Sometimes the care he received was 'outside the box' and the team worked hard to give him an excellent quality of life. One of the family doctors, Dr. Dhillon, is exceptional. This summer The Waterford provided a unique and memorable experience for us, organizing a Muskoka cruise. In my experience, leadership is the key to an effective organization. I have found the Waterford leadership to be approachable, supportive, and responsive. Thank you Waterford.
The Waterford staff are helpful, friendly and personable. The building is very well designed and perhaps even elegant in the appointment of decor and furnishings in the common areas. Was very impressed with the activity programs offered and even more with the facilities itself such as the library, entertainment area, and movie cinema. Wonderful retirement community.
