Village Cleaners

I dropped off a suit jacket for dry cleaning on Tuesday afternoon. The woman who works there NEVER smiles or has any sense of customer service. I felt like I was annoying her by making her actually work. I was told the coat wouldn't be ready until Friday afternoon... I picked up the coat today and was charged $22. I saw on the bill that not only was I charged for dry cleaning but that they charged me for alterations on the coat! When I asked the man working about this, he said that they had replaced the hem and proceeded to show me. I told him the hem didn't need to be done and that I didn't ask for that. Instead of apologizing and giving me a full refund he continued to say that "there must have been a loose string" and asked "if I was sure" I hadn't asked for it to be hemmed. I'm pretty sure that I would remember having requested a hem replacement on a coat that I had purchased a month ago. When I demanded to see the original hand-written receipt and asked what was written on it, he said that it only had dry cleaning as the reason it was brought in. Despite this, he still gave me a hard time about the hemming and begrudgingly said "I can refund you the money if you want". Village Cleaners does not understand the idea of customer service. You cannot perform alterations which haven't been asked for and then charge the customer for doing this. This isn't the first time I've been to this dry cleaning establishment and I am questioning the exorbitant charges from previous visits (which I never got receipts for). I would rather drive to Des Moines than return to have my dry cleaning done at Village Cleaners.
