Have been to Vicki's many times to enjoy their fish and chips, which are always excellent. However, the last few times we were very disappointed to find them closed when their web info said they were open. Does anyone know if they will be reopening? Their info is now saying they are Temporarily Closed.
I was at Vicki's about 3 wks ago Service and food were excellent. Ordered two large orders of hadie bits for take out. She asked if I wanted there home made tartar sauce. I said home made. I ordered the same order again tonight and asked for home made tartar sauce again. The waitress informed me that was for eat in customers only not for take out. She abruptly turned her back to me and ignored me. She was about to wait on the next customer and saw I was still waiting. She begrudgingly went to the cooler and took out two small Containers of tartar sauce and dropped them upside down in a bag and said this is the last time. I paid $22 for each order and you can't give home made tartar sauce if requested ? The waitress was very rude turning her back to me and ignoring me.
Ordered the platter with haddock, shrimp, scallops and clams. Was very disappointed with everything. Fish was soggy, breading did not stay on the haddock or shrimp. Tartar sauce was pure mayo. The mashed potatoes and veggies were so bland, not an ounce of salt or spice. Staff was very kind and attentive. This seems like a community favourite in terms of restaurants, but the food is mediocre at best.
Great little homey place for fried fish. The batter is light and not greasy. Not the best I've ever had but the fish and seafood are soooo fresh. Staff are great and very friendly, lots of locals go there so not a tourist feel. If your in the area stop over. Great desserts as well and all home made.
I use to love Vicki's in the Valley. Best fish next to moms I have eaten. The wait staff from Thrusday to Sunday always friendly. Scott cook's fish to perfection. I was there on a Tuesday night what a difference never would go back there ever again. The waitress was to the point of being hateful. I was there today the coleslaw was musty tasting the lettuce was not fresh.. .l am not sure what's going on but it might be my last time eating there if that's the best I can get.
Best place to get fried clams that I've ever found! Haddy bits are also great, as well as their fries made in house. If you are looking for fried seafood this certainly is a great choice.
Kinda disappointed, had fish and chips. I had heard great things about it. My fish portion was large, however batter was soggy. Flavor was ok, but no wow at all. I will probably try again another time, but don't think it would be a regular stop.
Nicely renovated. A favorite spot to enjoy seafood for my client's family. Haddie bits and clams are a favorite, my senior loves the pan fried haddock and fries.
Amazing fish and chips. Mom and I got a 3 piece and it was the perfect amount. They don't skimp on any of the crucial bits like the tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Also, it's just a nice friendly atmosphere.
Went to the new Dartmouth location this past Saturday. For starters, the Wait staff seemed a little on the cranky side. Food took quite awhile to come out. Fish was very good although it wasn’t the freshest haddock I’ve ever had. The Fries however were terrible! If your going to charge the higher prices, you can’t serve the cheapest frozen fries you can find. You need to serve home fries.
