I always have a good experience on the VIA Rail. I have both stayed within Canada and crossed over the border and had an equally pleasant experience. The staff was great to speak with and the service was smooth. Had a little bit of an interruption both ways but I don’t see how they could have been avoided. Great all around and keeps me connected with my fiancé.
Good overall. Smooth easy boarding and staff is friendly. Only thing is that delays are very common and wifi isn’t the best.
A nice station.nI’ve been a customer for years and I’d recommend.nOne thing that was unfortunate is my last experience it was raining inside the train for 3 hours of my ride. They noted the issue, but didn’t do anything to help, I had to get napkins from the bathroom.
It will get you from point A to point B, expect delays. Out of the last 5 trips I have taken, there have been delays with each one. They do offer some discounts, but honestly the discounts they offer for the delays don't make time pass any faster or make it feel worthwhile. If you can fly to your destination instead of taking the train or rent a car/carpool, I would avoid VIA rail and take an alternate form of transportation. Staff are usually kind and helpful, but man does the ride suck, if you don't have your own mobile data, the train wifi will drive you insane, I personally keep my data on. Plan accordingly and bring extra food/water and battery packs to charge your devices.
Via Rail is a very convenient way to go to Toronto from Detroit, where I live. I drive 40 min to the Windsor train station and then in 4 hrs I am in Toronto. The price if tickets is also very reasonable. The only reason why I do not give five stsrs is because I often experience delays in train departure or arrival.
