THEIR EMPLOYEES NEED MORE TRAINING!!! I have a dog, in the past, I’ve been told by the employees: to put him in a cage because I brought a soft pet bag, it’s not acceptable; to put him in a soft bag because a cage takes too much space; to leave the dog with other luggages; to take the dog with me. To go directly to the train, to sign a form first online even though the ticket is booked on the phone and no one told me so. They always try to be nice by telling me they will let me go this time but I should be cared. But careful for what? If each of you have different rules… I appreciate the kindness but I prefer trained employees who know what they are talking about. your employees need more training.
No reason to be early. Their ape brained staff will be late to board you as you stand like an idiot waiting to get on the train. Exploitative pricing. Paid way too much to be crammed in a child ridden car where sleep is not allowed with the recliners LOCKED. Cramped, loud and a huge waste of time and money. I agree that Canadian rail needs to die off. Overpaid idiots
Not accurate with timing at all was supposed to arrive to Ottawa at 9:15 PM and we didn't leave Montreal until 9:00 and arrived to ottawa after midnight. Worst experience
Please get rid of the forced covid injection requirement for staff and job offers! If the Via Rail passengers and all people can now travel without a vaccine including flight attendants there is no reason why Via Rail should still be making it mandatory for staff members
Although expensive, I always prefer traveling by train than airplane. The VIA trains are very clean and spacious.
I have not travelled in a while by train or plane and with all the flight issues I figured I would try the train for my work travel to Toronto, notably as well because it is more eco friendly. The onboarding was very easy and the train goes from downtown to downtown, so once off the train, you are there, no need to figure out how to get downtown. In business class it is nice that the food is served with reusable cutlery, cups and plates however there are plastic cups & bottles for the water service, coffee and tea is served in a reusable mug. I hope that this is the case for all seats and hopefully the remaining plastic will be removed soon. The service was great, very friendly, frequent and very spacious, although the seats are not the most comfortable. The main issue is that it is long, 5+ hours from Montreal to Toronto is really unfortunate, if it was 3 hours it would be an obvious choice like it is across many countries in Europe. They also need rising trays for laptop work and the WiFi sucks, hard to believe this is still an issue, but still better than the very pricey WiFi on a plane.
We had a great time on the Ocean via train with cabin from Moncton to Montreal. Everyone was fantastic.
Been travelling a lot on the train lately. I am always very well looked after: From booking to boarding to travelling. I am very grateful for the care given to us during this pandemic. Here is a spectacular view from my seat on an August evening... beautiful sunset.
Take the alternative if you get the chance Megabus, Greyhound, whatever's out there. Trust me, you'll save yourself a lot of heartache. It's a travesty right now.
I love taking the train. It is comfortable. But the wifi is really bad! I am not even able to load a speed test page !! Could you at least offered a paid plan if we travel for work?
