Poor management. I was given misinformation several times when trying to cancel my membership, I was told by the assistant manger herself that I wasn’t welcome to work out there anymore however I would be paying for another month and later found out that I had access still for that entire period. I was then told a certain date that my last payment would come out and then was charged two more times after the fact. The employees don’t even know their own policies and when I tried to sort it out I was told there was nothing they could do and that they were actually doing me a favour by “letting” me work out up until the date that I had paid for. Not to mention the fact that they were closed for nearly two weeks over the winter due to water damage and members didn’t receive any sort of reimbursement or compensation. The equipment is old and often out of order. Better off spending a few extra dollars a month to work out elsewhere.

I joined a few months ago, but thinking of changing gyms due to lack of variety and early morning options. They only have spin Twice a week at 6am. Would be nice to have some variety of classes and offered more days per week than 2 !

More comfortable atmosphere than the Y, and I appreciate the TV's in the cardio room and no perfume policy. Always get a parking spot and it's not crowded. Equipment is not new or flashy but the price is right. I hate signing a contract though and its bitten me twice before with this company! That's the one reason I would switch gyms if a better option came up.

The gym itself is okay, the equipment is made for women, they have extra free (and not free) guided sessions throughout the week, they have smoothies as well. It is also fairly vacant. The staff was pleasant for the most part. My issue is the inescapable snare of the contracts and the phone calls and emails. I get that they want you to get the most out of the membership but it was VERY annoying to get various calls and emails asking when I'm coming in. Then they called/emailed my boyfriend many times as well since he got one of the free passes. It's expensive. They need to take photos of you and give you a million brochures and test/checklist thing as though you are buying a car or entering college. The only way you can possible escape their contract is by moving far away from any VI Fitness. Don't get a contract with any gym, if you do, try it for a few months before signing one of their horrible contracts. Personally I found I can get similar or better results working out at home with HIIT training. I chalk my membership up to being another learning experience/regret.

I have been to many gyms and tried many different workout classes but nothing has compared to the way I feel about the Oak Bay VI Fitness for women! The fitness classes are incredibly fun and all of the staff are so friendly and helpful. Shout out to Stephanie and Amanda for making me feel so comfortable starting out at a new gym!
