Vertex Sky Bar occupies the top floors of the Hotel Alex Johnson. Guests and members can enjoy breathtaking views, fine cuisine and top-label spirits.

Story

A Rapid City restaurant and bar without equal, Vertex Sky Bar combines modern features and traditional architecture with an unforgettable view. Vertex is located on the top two floors of the Hotel Historic Alex Johnson. Both levels offer indoor seating and an outdoor deck with gas-heated fire pits.

Panoramic views allow guests to experience an incredible view of the Black Hills, Dinosaur Hill, the southern buttes and gorgeous prairie.

Vertex Sky Bar offers hotel guests and Vertex Club members a wide selection of expertly-mixed cocktails, world-class spirits, and a variety of fine wine and beer. Our kitchen has crafted an exquisite menu, complete with decadent appetizers, gourmet entrees and savory desserts.

If you missed this place, you have not seen Rapid City. It has the best view, best food and drinks in downtown Rapid City. A breathtaking view from the top.
Very fancy, super cool bar. If you’re thinking about going, it’s definitely worth it! They have propane fire pits on the rooftop to keep you warm!
Great food and dazzling views. This is a great place for supper with ambience in a historic hotel.
The menue is very limited food wise so if you are hungry this is not the place to go to.Food is good though.But the alcohol options are much better and cocktails are tasty
Really cool atmosphere, and great staff. Honestly, the portions are too small for the price Beef Tenderloin, but the flavor was good.

The atmosphere did not fit the price. It is sold as upscale but the music and ambiance were not. The food was quality and the staff were good though.
Great place! Can sit at the bar go find a quiet corner! If you're at the bar talk to Hannah she's absolutely amazing!
Maybe I am just not use to this area. Where I am from rooftop lounges are cocktail places. There were so many children running about here. I was early at 7pm, maybe my fault . It is a membership club? Does it focus on family memberships? I don't know. Good atmosphere and set up if it was less baby oriented.
Steak was good, but not worth its price. You've been warned.
