Moved to Vegreville 5 years ago with a beagle with a chronic health condition. Came from Saskatoon where we took him to the Western Collage of Veterinary Medicine so were used to a high level of care. We found Josh and his staff to be every bit as good as the University staff and he takes a genuine interest in the animals under his care, even willing to come in to help replace some torn stitches in the middle of the night when a clinic in Edmonton said just wait till morning. Also an excellent diagnostician who was able to spot a back problem at an early stage (sent us to a specialist in Edmonton who confirmed the diagnosis - good and careful). We've since moved into Edmonton, but still make the hour drive out to Veg for check-ups just for the quality of care.

Vegreville needs pet boarding and this vet clinic should offer this service because my pets would love the staff and I know they’d be well looked after.

Was passing through town and my Corgi was vomitting and not acting himself. Stopped at the clinic to see if they could help me out. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Doctors were great! I was treated with respect and compassion considering they were not my regular clinic. They did not hesitate to take us in and help us out!

I am a practicing licensed veterinarian in the United States, and was in Vegreville for a National Championship Canadian Kennel Club Field Trial event. During my stay one of my National Champion dogs inhaled a foreign body into her nostril, possible a dangerous foxtail seed, causing her violent sneezing and distress. As a veterinarian I know that these seeds are dangerous and can migrate to the lungs easily if not quickly removed. I drove her to the Vegreville Veterinary Clinic, which was just down the road from the hotel I was staying in and explained my situation to them. I was treated incredibly rudely by the receptionist at this practice, who after consulting with the veterinarian who was in surgery came back and told me that they could not help me with my dog, that I was not licensed to practice in Canada (which I am well aware of, I had explained that I was a veterinarian as a way to let them know I had some knowledge of my dog's situation and was just hoping for some basic professional courtesy) and I was informed that I could take my dog to Edmonton to be seen, over an hours drive away. As a practice owner myself I would never treat any client in this manner, let alone a colleague and fellow veterinarian, whom in our profession would be treated with a level of professional courtesy by their fellow veterinarians, and would not employ staff that treated any client, veterinarian, or pet in this manner. Vetgreville Veterinary Clinic's total lack of concern for my dog's medical issue was distressing, and I would never recommend this practice to any pet owner. Jeffrey Miller, DVM
