I'm impressed this place. Our lay over here was 9 hours and we had a relax time here. Staff are kind and helpful. Architecture are wonderful. Washrooms are like pop art design clean and huge. I also enjoyed seeing the artifacts made by the natives. The carve stone and different sculptures. Lots of shops and cafe's too.
Beautiful and clean airport with lots of indigenous artwork and totem poles. Easy to follow large signage posted throughout. Washroom is very clean, even despite being close to the fast food restaurants. Restaurants are all open and there are large windows to see the planes. Small indoor playground available for small kids.
It's a great airport, from the first moment that you get off your plane you feel a good vibe inside this airport, it's quiet and you feel confident and comfortable even though it might be crowded in certain areas. For transfers they have machines that scan your documents and make everything easier. The personal was kind most of the time, some of them are not friendly but they're just exceptions. There's a great lobby with lots of things to buy and see, and in the way to the gates are even little museums and experiences that unfortunately are not available right now due COVID 19 :/. Amazing facilities and well signed so you won't get lost.
October 2022 5* Departure Transfer ------------- Being global traveller, I am fortunate to visit many airports in the world. I like Vancouver airport. It was my transit trip to USA. The process was smooth but it is a very long walk. It will be challenging for old people without assistance to walk. Terminal to US security and immigration is quite far. Rest the place is very neat and well organized. Baggage transfer is quick. There is lots of good shopping options at International terminal. Arrival Transfer -------- Travel from US was smooth but the walk to immigration counter and back to terminal is again very long. Old people without assistance will find it very tiring. The terminal is well maintained and clean.
Great and big international and domestic airport. Foodcourts are well maintained and their prices are reasonable. Some machines to get your ticket upon arrival don’t work well, as I have to switch in between machines several times. The line was pretty quick though and everyone who works in the airport are very accomodating. On the downside, if you are on an economy flight and in a very long layover, you’ll have to stay put on public chairs or maybe the food court. Bathrooms are clean, however, I don’t like how the public chairs were situated outside the bathrooms, as you can literally smell what’s inside if you chose to sit outside. Overall, they have great security and there are a lot of employees stationed to help you get through your way in the airport.
Small but very functional airport. Baggage comes through quickly and it's easy to navigate for pick ups and drop offs. The waiting area for cars is also close by so you don't have to wait long to pick up your weary traveller.
I like the fact that there are clear directions where to return car rentals at the airport. There are shops inside for a quick souvenir shopping and the washrooms are clean. The baggage pick up are is easy to locate and there are seats available right by the exit if you need to reorganize.
Beautiful and clean airport with helpful staff. Wonderful indigenous art , totem poles and contemporary art work around the airport. The airport is surrounded by beautiful snowcapped mountains. Its a delight landing here .And during spring season, driving out of the airport you will be greeted with many cherry blossoms trees
Wow, customs line for flying to the us is probably more then half a kilometer and many hours long! If you're flying back to the us, Global Entry is a MUST! There is a global entry lane entrance right by the baggage drop off but it's not obvious. We had waited in the main line for an hour before someone mentioned the express nexus lane and that got us in with enough time for our flight. If you don't have global entry and are flying to the us, plan at least 3 hours early to the airport.
Very well designed and planned out airport. And when you have to wait for hours to board a plane, the art and layout of this airport are bar none. The airport is extremely clean as well as the bathrooms. There are charging ports at waiting areas although not enough for everyone. A good variety of last minute food courts and souvenier shops but it's the Indingenous artwork that wins me over and gives one a true sense you are in British Columbia.
