I am not reviewing VCC. My review and 5-star rating is only for Ms. Carolyn Moi, an excellent teacher. I am a student studying at VCC in ELS Level 6. Throughout all the time I have studied at this college, Ms. Carolyn Moi has been the best, most hardworking, and most responsible teacher I have ever had. With patience and kindness, she always tried to teach us all the useful things that we can use both in our life and in our studies in the future. She helped us build confidence and encouraged us to connect and communicate with the community in English, and she did this with love and full responsibility.nI hope I will have the chance to join her valuable and helpful classes again.
I honestly don’t know what I would have done without Tony Gladstone as my Senior Indigenous Advisor. I did not qualify to be a student at VCC when I first tried to attend school and it was frustrating. I was also in a less than ideal situation in life and it would have been easy to leave me behind. But Tony Gladstone was one of rare people who treated me like a worthy person and didn’t give up on me. She tried so hard to get me into school and I truly believe she has my best interests at heart Throughout all my encounters with Tony Gladstone and all the other indigenous students she takes care of. I have noticed that she cares for us all and we are all heard and considered she doesn’t leave anyone of us behind and we are all considered by her equally. This what makes her a good leader. I often find students already in her office with her when I go to see her. She is so kind and supportive to us all. She lifts us up and gives us encouragement. I am blessed to have met her. and thankful VCC has her as Senior Indigenous Advisor Tony Gladstone’s support and guidance has been the key to my success and development as a student. But more importantly she is an example of how all of us should be in life. Kind, caring, considerate, fair, non judgmental and respectful. She has the qualities a good leader needs and more. Thank you VCC
Everything about this campus is honestly fine. Classes are okay, staff is normal, building is clean, nothing dramatic to complain about.nBut the parking situation? Absolute nightmare.nThere is basically no parking, what little exists fills up instantly, and you end up circling like a lost soul. If you drive, come early or prepare to suffer.nGood school. Horrendous parking. That’s the whole story.
It is a great and economical place for the curious minds to upgrade current skillset or learn something new from an instructor lead session. It offers multiple courses, most are practical, others are more on the theoretical side. The building itself is open and easy to access with a few bus stations around. Parking is very limited at this location here.
I regret ever setting foot into VCC. I would have been better off dropping out. I went into VCC a solid A/B+ student in chemistry and came out a wreck doubting what I am even doing.nnIf the courses I am taking are cheaper here than at SFU or UBC then I have no financial hope of ever finishing my degree. The courses are not cheap. any scant discount you get from coming here is not worth it. if you can just go to a real post secondary.nnall of my classes are 50% online, this was not communicated to me. all of my homework is auto marked and the questions are stolen from UBC. My prof’s lecture notes are 50% math mistakes a 10th grader could catch and 50% grammar and spelling mistakes a 7th grader could catch. The text books are open source, save yourself the headache and just download and study on your own. There are no resources here, there is no hope here.nnavoid this silent-hill-esqu nightmare at all costs.
