Vancouver City Hall

Story

Vancouver City Hall is home to Vancouver City Council in Vancouver, British Columbia. Located at 453 West 12th Avenue, the building was ordered by the Vancouver Civic Building Committee, designed by architect Fred Townley and Matheson, and built by Carter, Halls, Aldinger and Company. The building has a twelve storey tower (the point being 323 feet/98 metres above sea level) with a clock on the top.The building is served by the Broadway–City Hall station on SkyTrain's Canada Line.HistoryBetween 1897 and 1929, the Vancouver City Hall was located on Main Street, just south of the Carnegie Library; that building had previously served as a public market and an auditorium. In 1929, City Hall moved into the Holden Building (built 1911), while the Main Street building became an extension of the Carnegie Library. After being elected mayor in 1934, Gerry McGeer appointed a three-man committee to select the location for a new city hall; choices included the former Central School site at Victory Square, and Strathcona Park at the corner of Cambie Street and West 12th Avenue (no relation to the current park in the Strathcona neighbourhood). The panel recommended the Strathcona Park site, and City Council approved the selection in 1935, making Vancouver the first major Canadian city to locate its city hall outside its downtown.

As a wedding photographer, I had the pleasure of photographing a few weddings at Vancouver City Hall, and I must say, I was very impressed. The Micro Wedding Program at City Hall provided a wonderful opportunity for couples to celebrate their love and commitment in a safe, budget friendly, and meaningful way.nnThe staff at City Hall were outstanding - friendly, professional, and detail-oriented. They went out of their way to me and the couple with helpful guidance and tips on how to navigate the Council Chamber and capture the perfect shots. We even learned a few interesting tidbits about the chamber, like the history of the bell that was used to signal the start of meetings.nnOverall, I have to give credit where credit is due - Vancouver City Hall did an incredible job of hosting the Micro Wedding Program during these challenging times. Their dedication and attention to detail made the entire experience truly special for everyone involved. I highly recommend City Hall as a wedding venue for couples looking to tie the knot in Vancouver.
City of vancouver sucking the blood of poor people by handing out bylaw tickets. By law officers are so oppressor and fast to email a ticket , My car was overheated I pulled to the side of street I noticed bad smell I put my emergency I saw bylaw officer was taking pictures of me and my car I ask him what are you doing , he said move otherwise I will give you a ticket , I decided to go to next street .nnthe whole conversation by the law officer didn’t take 2 minutes.nntoday I got mail says pay 120 $ if you don’t pay in 5 days the ticket will be 300 .
From the aspect of the building and the grounds, neat little park with with a community garden and Manzo Nagano garden. You also get really great views of the city and mountains from certain spots! There's also a section with built in table tennis tables!
There are two aspects to Vancouver City Hall..one is the main reason for city affairs to be accommodated through the many government offices in the City Hall Building, while the other is the establishment of a very special green space which serves as a gentle green environment to foster a tranquil atmosphere….there are numerous benches and a wonderful view of Downtown Vancouver and the North Shore Mountains..
