Going through Van Dongen's will be the best choice you've made for your garden. We used their design services for our backyard project and they have far exceeded our expectations. The variety, knowledge, and customer service by all their staff are second to none.
I have no clue how I missed reviewing this store. We have been going here for years now and there is always exceptional service. Good knowledgeable staff and an excellent selection of products. One of the best nurseries in the GTHA.
The staff was courteous and very helpful. I purchased two maple trees with Andre's assistance. He certainly is knowledgeable when it comes to trees and caring for them. Mike's crew did an excellent job planting the trees. I highly recommend them and will definitely return.
Always is a pleasure to visit this family. We're coming for about 10 years and we love to share this Christmas time with the Van Dongen's! The store is a beautiful place to visit and buy special decorations all year long! They are the most welcoming and warm family we had met since we were in Canada!
Huge huge huge selection of all things garden! Price is reasonable. Selection is great. Bought a beautiful cabbage? Lettuce? tea set for $50 and I am totally loving it. But I digress. The nursery has a great selection of indoor and outdoor plants as well as artificial flowers, wreaths, garden decor, benches, gnomes, fountains etc. The staff is super sweet. Entry is handicap accessible but I believe the lower floor has only staircase access. I loved almost everything. Must visit the place for yourself. Excellent selection of trees and shrubs! Staff is friendly and very helpful. I have been buying my soil, grass seed and plants here for the past few years and now I wouldn't go anywhere else. Last year one of the shrubs I purchased died after I planted it, and not only did they give me a full refund but ordered in the exact size that I was looking for. The perennials, bushes and small trees in the photos below all come from Van Dongen's! Highly recommend!
I had a great experience shopping for some evergreens that provide beauty and privacy in front of our frost fence between us and the neighbours. Andrew was very knowledgeable , friendly and informative about my options and drilled down to the sun and care details so i knew the purchase of my Ward Yews were perfect. I also bought the Mykes transplant 5 year guarantee product. I didn’t rate it a 5 star because the prices are high however to obtain mature evergreens now at this time the options are very limited, Big Box stores have no inventory.
I bought a tree in May 2019 and initially I was very satisfied with the purchasing experience. We had a gentlemen, Pablo, if I recall, that helped us select our tree and made the buying experience very pleasant. The tree was transported and planted by Van Dongen's but unfortunately, it did not survive. I talked to Jonathan in July and he took care of me with a replacement tree that was switched by Steve and his crew on site. I attach a photo of the replacement tree. My experience shows me that every company can sell you a product that can turn bad for whatever reason, but what makes a great company is when they stand behind their products and services and make it easy to deal with them, without aggravation and this is exactly what Van Dongen's did in my case. I cannot be more satisfied from their service. Now let's hope my new tree will survive.

Van Dongen’s has a great selection of various plants and trees. We have always been content with the products and service we have received. Recently, they went above and beyond with ensuring our purple dawyk Beechtree which we purchased about a month ago would survive. We appreciate the time and guidance Fernando and his co worker gave us. We will put this knowledge to use! Thank you Michael for following up with us right away and having this looked into. It’s nice to know your customers are valued and that you want to ensure your products succeed!
