Special Soup Dinner and tour. Hartford Bible Church donated the Crouched tapestry of the Lord's Supper. Hard to see in this pic.
Found picture of Dr. Fred Boothby, who delivered my brother, in his office!! Also the soda fountain from my towns drug store when I was growing up. Highly recomend this place. Took my husband and me 2 hours to see 4 floors! Wish it didn't take 1 1/2 hours to get there. I'd be there every day for weeks and still not see everything.
I am a huge fan of museums and try to visit as often as time allowed while of vacation or away for a quick weekend. Little did I know that this little gem is about 2 miles from my home! I encourage you to take the guided tour. Our guy did a great job and I learned so much in a couple of hours. I could have stayed all day but had other engagements. I'll be going back as I didn't really have the opportunity to see the first floor completely and I hear there's a basement too! Wish it were open through the end of the year though. Can't imagine how beautiful it would be during Christmas.
This place is closed until further notice. I hate to give a bad review to a museum but someone here needs to take charge. You need to update Google and Facebook that your institution is not operating. The phone number is also not functioning.
Much learning about life in the late 1800s in Southwest Michigan. Me and the family really enjoyed the experience. The museum used to be a infirmary for the mentally disabled which was cool. I would recommend this museum for locals who live in the area and history buffs.
This museum is housed in a former county poorhouse built around 1884. It has three floors of historical items and exhibits, including a one-room school, general store, music room, old-fashioned kitchen, turn of the century parlor, old dentist office and military room. There is also a replica log cabin and blacksmith works on the grounds. It's open June-September. There is a charge to get in.
