Uptown Bill's is a great little bookstore and coffee shop with live performances by local musicians on Saturday nights. They also provide meeting space for people with disabilities and have a fun selection of soda.
Good coffee, great events, and an excellent and affordable selection of used books. This is one of the best venues to see live music in the area. Very intimate and "alt-living room."
This is an interesting place, undoubtedly, but if you're in search of an actual coffee house, I'd head elsewhere. I walked in and there was a singular coffee pot in the back. There's an actual coffee shop down the street towards down town on Dubuque, if that's what you're on search of.
Amazing and touching history! Open layout, quiet, wonderful employees. Easy to grab a book and spend a morning with one of their snacks or beverages. Check it out!
