I've been testing every roaster I can find around PDX and Upper Left blew me away. Hands down the best coffee I've had in town, and this is a great coffee town. Appreciate the variety of bean profiles. Sparkling water with espresso to clear palate for tasting is a pro-touch.
Spacious coffeeshop with a sparkling matcha that doesn't disappoint. Loud music means it's not a place I like to sit and work, but the fresh heirloom tomatoes make the breakfast sandwich irresistible, and they have lots of choice seating outside.
Nice 3rd wave shop if you're looking for boutique espresso. Friendly staff and the place has some food items. Great outdoor seating for when the weather is nice! As a native Portlandler it definitely feels like you're in a Portlandia episode.
Great flavor in their espresso. A number of good food options. The biscuit & croissant breakfast sandwich are both good, but croissant version is definitely tastier.
The coffee and food here is top notch. The egg croissant sandwich may have been the best I've ever had in the PNW. I'd add a a little more coziness to this spot and it would hit a 5 star rating. Parking is very limited in the neighborhood and this place is busy so having no time restraints is helpful.
Great cafe and met my expectations! I had the nova lox toast and matcha. Toast was fantastic, poblano pepper schmear was excellent, and the lox was fresh. Matcha could’ve been hotter. Reasonably priced. I will be going back to try the other toasts! Great ambiance with good natural light. FYI vaccine card is required for indoor dining.
Fresh, really tasty breakfast options and great coffee. They also have tea & beer options. Bright but cozy atmosphere. Seating is a little close together but still comfortable.Food: 5/5
Amazing place. Always love coming here to do schoolwork or some work stuff. Coffee is great and food is great.
Lox - the teeniest bit too salty for me - if you like dill you'll like this Prosciutto hot honey with kale - it was good for what it was - I think the flavors just didn't mix well for me, it was a good meal but it wasn't necessarily extremely enjoyable - was very filling though Ube latte - not too sweet - got it with a shot which made the ube a secondary flavor - not caffeinated without the shot
A small block away from Hawthorne, Upper Left Roasters is a perfect place to catch up with friends or read a book by yourself. The indoor space is well lit with natural lights from the big window, the patio area also has plenty of seats. I had a latte, which was pretty good; they also offer a small selection of food item like avocado toasts.
