University Place Pierce County Library

It's pretty much a library. Not as big as bigger branches but there are options here. Free computer access. Printer and copier. Kids sections. A few art pieces to check out also.

I recently encountered some displeasing behavior from both of your managers located at the university place library branch. I booked a two hour slot for the conference room that has a disclaimer stating that the room is open to the public. Which I then agreed to acknowledging such term. At 1705 I was approached by Malia. I explained that I understand another group May enter but I should not be forced out. Later at 1709, Steve comes in and I then again explained that the conference room is open to the public. Why am I being pressured to leave? Steve sarcastically states well no one ever stays pass their time. As of if the conference room didn’t have a pre warning that it’s open to the public and anyone May enter at any time. Bottom line, I was approached by two managers that agreed with the clause of the agreement and stilled pressures and bullies me out of the room so another group could study as I was doing. Completely disgusting on how I was treated and will not ever come back.

Got my new library card! It's a little small .I miss Lakewood library but I Love the area in front by the fire to read a book . Haven't got coffee at the cafe next door , maybe next time ...

Excellent place to study. Furniture is new and comfortable, offers free wifi, computers, printing services fee, rooms for study groups by appointment and meeting rooms larger groups. Free parking and Whole Food Market next door for lunch etc. Not a 100% quite place, but this can be minimized if you focus on your studying.

I didn't know you could review libraries! Everything about this place is great, friendly staff super friendly ladies at the front desk are awesome about helping, clean, fun for kids and books!! I like using the pick up service since I know what I want, but my kids love browsing. I love the little library books they pick out and set up above the shelves. My kids always grab these. What the hell is with the negative reviews??? I never have any problems with the staff, in fact they are all nice and friendly. And if your have a problem with the teens being loud or something can't you just put in some earplugs and turn on some white noise!!! Go chill out and eat some bliss ice cream!!!!! But seriously this is a beautiful library definitely better than the ones in tacoma and I'd say one of the top ones in the state.

Grateful that this branch is open 7 days a week holidays excepting, and is close to a cute and quiet cafe to enjoy.

The University Place library is so noisy it usually resembles a nursery. Apparently parents think this is a great place to bring their children with no regard or thought for the needs of the other patrons and the staff do nothing to stop the noise. The parents show no regard or respect for others - they do not have the right to inflict their noisy children on others. Very difficult place to read or study or try to do any kind of work requiring mental concentration. Even worse is the fact that bad manners and no consideration for others are instilled in the children because they are allowed to be VERY noisy. They run, run, run as if they are on a playground. Then the crying starts. Some people cannot stand this kind of stress-inducing noise, especially combat veterans. People also come to this library to apply for jobs because they have no other resource. It is impossible to concentrate with all this bedlam.

I find it very convenient as it is located in the shopping center, but finding a parking spot is never an issue. Great place for kids for sure. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. I am not sure how this library compares to others, but having an access to e-books, audio books, movies, and musics online is already enough resources for me and my son :

Beautiful building and good selection of books. The staff can be rude, often making patrons wait for help while they finish conversing with another employee or reading a book for pleasure. There are many homeless sleeping in corners and several loud teens performing illegal activities around corners and soliciting for drugs. Respectable patrons are often ignored and viewed as a nuisance when inappropriate behavior is addressed. Additionally this library is VERY loud. A private room is the only place to study or concentrate, but there are only 2 and are limited to 2 hrs. This library has outlived its usefulness. It is too small for the community, much too loud and the staff need training on customer service, etiquette and general decency towards its community members.
